Champion of Champions Review
Champion of Champions is an action-packed, five-reel, three-row and 20-payline game from Applejack.
In this game, which pays tribute to all the classic movies and games of the fighting genre, players will be reminded of Fists of Fury, Enter The Dragon, Tekken and Mortal Combat, among many others.
But Champion of Champions is its own game and one that will be a big hit for fans of '90s brawler games. Play it as a free slots game on your computer mobile and tablet from home or anywhere else.
The Storyline
Champion of Champions is the story of four brave fighters, CJ Knight, Hunter Lee, Sammy Bryant and Braco. This team of champs has come together to defeat the wicked Japanese boss, Yoshinubo.
This classic baddie uses the fighters' strength to supply himself with “fighters’ will”, a form of life energy. He saps it from their defeated bodies. So your job here is to stop him taking yours and every one else’s too.
The Game
The reels are suspended inside a dojo-like setting, but once you start spinning, the play is pretty standard. The reels tumble, and if you make a combination, then electricity - the life energy - flows through the paylines. The symbols include the standard playing-card figures plus the fighters and the bonus symbols.
The Symbols
The four champions are all high-value symbols, and the playing cards the lower-value ones. There’s a VS symbol to watch for - this brings you the Champion's Bonus game when it shows up on reels 1, 2 and 3.
The flaming fist activates a free spin feature when it falls in reels 2, 3 and 4. There’s also a Dragon symbol, which is Wild, and plenty of bonuses.
This dragon can show up as a gold figure in reel 3 to trigger a cut-away scene where he leaps over the board and turns some symbols on the reels wild. This adds a very arcade-game spirit to the reels.
The Bonus Game
Champion of Champions offers a good slots experience, but most players will really be here for the Champion's Bonus game. In this cut-away section, CJ, Sammy, Hunter and Braco show up, and one needs to be chosen to fight the Boss.
In the next screen, a Street Fighter-style game takes place where players need to uncover seven hidden symbols to find either “advance” or “stopper” cards. Advance cards deliver a set of combo moves on the opponent, and a stopper lets the opposition block and attack.
Just like in the old fighter games, you’ll see your energy bar go down until you're out. But if you win, you get to go again up to four times, collecting prizes along the way.
Overall
This game offers a lot more than your average slot. With a real story line and cut-away action, it never gets old.
The wins seem pretty frequent - enough to keep you interested. And although there’s no progressive jackpot, there are some nice payouts from the higher-value symbols.
