Ancient Egypt one of the most popular themes for online slots games, so most developers have at least one title in their catalogue relating to the theme. It’s the perfect subject for a gambling game, thanks to an abundance of elaborate jewels, ornaments, statues and trinkets. So Zitro Games are throwing their hat into an already overcrowded arena. Renenutet was the Goddess of Fortune according to the Ancient Egyptians. Not surprisingly, that’s made her an excellent choice to be the subject of an online slots game, where cash prizes are at stake. But there was much more to this Goddess than ensuring that her worshippers’ coffers were filled. She was thought to be responsible for the growth of crops too, as well as the wellbeing of expectant mothers. She is often depicted alongside a cobra, indicating that she was a protective deity for the people of Egypt.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The graphics for Fortune Goddess seemed a little clumsy for our tastes. We’ve played some top-notch Egyptian-themed games, so it could just be us being picky. But animations of fronds of grass alongside the reels were so basic as to seem pointless, providing an unwanted and unnecessary distraction to the symbols on the reels.

The usual culprits of an ankh symbol, an Eye of Horus and the Scarab Beetle are all present and correct, along with the richly decorated sarcophagus of a Pharaoh, which acts as the game’s Scatter. The Fortune Goddess, with her cobra-shaped crook, is the game’s Wild symbol, substituting for other symbol apart from the Scatter and Bonus Wild.

Some developers choose to include atmospheric Middle-Eastern music into their Egyptian-themed slots. Zitro Games haven’t gone that far, but the game does include some generic sounds and snippets of music. If they’re not to your taste, you can easily mute the soundtrack and either play in silence or to the accompaniment of your preferred playlist.

1. Once the game launches in your device browser, you’ll see that it has 50 fixed paylines, as shown to the left of the reels. So your only decision is how much to stake on each spin. The bonus game in Fortune Goddess is all about Free Spins with a multiplier feature. Three or more Scatters award 10 Free Spins, during which the Goddess Wilds only appear on reels 3 and 5. They are replaced on reel 2 by a Pyramid Wild with a 2x Multiplier and on reel 4 by a Pyramid Wild with a 4x Multiplier. Land both Pyramid Wilds and the totals will be added together for a 6x Multiplier on your payline win.

Overall Review

We have a lot of time for slots with an Ancient Egyptian theme, but we have to say Fortune Goddess didn’t quite hit the spot for us. But maybe we were just feeling jaded by the lack of game data, as we’re a bit geeky about that kind of thing! If you love this theme, then it’s definitely worth giving Fortune Goddess a spin. But for our money, we’d much rather be heading for the Golden Goddess slot demo, which seems to offer a more rounded gaming experience.
