Theme, graphics and soundtrack of Paywire 777

Once the game loads, there is a very sparkly green and gold background with lots of lighting strips, like the ones you would find in a 1960s cinema. It is all very opulent. Before starting the game, it gives you details of the game on the front screen. This is really useful if you are new to the game; for example, it tells you how you can win and about the special features.

The graphics are high quality and retro. This is a classic game with classic features; in fact, it is almost like being in front of a pull-handle slot machine. There are lots of flashing lights, and virtual coins fall out of the slot machine when you win. It is all great fun.

The soundtrack is a kind of techno sound, upbeat with lots of drums and keyboards. This is in keeping with the game and you get a loud cymbal crash when you win. If you don’t like sound when you are playing, this game allows you to adjust the volume or turn it off altogether.

How to play Paywire 777

3. The circular button to the bottom left of the screen gives you the choice of different stakes.

4. The play button is to the bottom right of the screen. The autoplay button - the blue button - is just to its left.

Our verdict

This is a fun game and a bit out of the ordinary, taking you back to the old days of slot machines in pubs. We loved the Jumbotron feature, which added a bit of character to the game. There are not as many special features as some other games, but this didn’t matter - we enjoyed the game enough without them.

We found the video and game took a long time to load at times, so you need to be patient. It goes to the Asylum Labs home screen first, then through to the game itself; however, once we got through to the game, it was mostly stable.

We also found that the autospin feature didn’t always give us the number of spins we expected and we couldn’t work out the reason. It didn’t seem to be because we had won - there was no indication that we had - so we were a bit confused. Nonetheless, this didn’t spoil our enjoyment - we just played manually.

We liked the retro feel to the game, the Nudge feature and especially the Haywire feature, which happened a lot and we won regularly. We couldn’t work out what the maximum win in the game was, but we won 210 in one round with a stake of 30. We thought this was pretty good.
