Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The transparent reels are set in front of a blurred scene dominated by an Aztec temple lit by a rainy, dusky pink sky. The fruit symbol designs are based on the classics, and include the watermelon, lemon, plum, grapes, orange and cherries. In addition there is the fiery 7 and the purple star. All the fruit symbols appear to be fully rendered, almost photorealistic 3D models which rotate when they form part of a winning combination. The 7, the star and the totem wild symbol are all cartoon-like in their design and their animations are more two-dimensional. Music is minimal with no idle soundtrack. Instead a fretless bass plays when the reels are spinning and a simple piano tune accompanies the wins.

How to Play Totem Grace

Before you start the game, take a moment to familiarise yourself with the game set-up, controls and functions with our simple guide:

1. When the game is loaded, touch anywhere on the screen to enter the game. 
2. Before playing, familiarise yourself with the paytable and settings. Touch the menu button to access the tabs for these. Select the 'Information' icon to view the paytable. Select the 'settings' icon to customise sound and sound effects and the autoplay settings.
3. To adjust your bet, touch the bet button to scroll from the lowest to highest bet per spin. Touch and hold to select the highest bet value.
4. Totem Grace has no turbo spin option, but to speed up play you can touch the spin button during the spin animation to immediately stop the reels.
5. If you want to use the autostart function, access it via settings and select the number of automatic spins. Options are 5, 10, 20 and unlimited spins. Totem Grace has no loss limit settings, so whichever option you select, keep an eye on your wallet balance and be ready to stop before you need to.

Bet Sizes & Paytable Wins 

The number of paylines is fixed at 40 so the lowest bet is 40 credits per spin, while the highest is 2000 per spin. The highest paying symbol on the paytable is the 7, which will win you 1000x your line bet for 5 of a kind, down to 10x your line bet for 2 of a kind. All the other symbols will pay out from 5 down to 3 of a kind, with the purple star being the next highest with 500x your line bet for 5 of a kind.

Totem Grace Expanding Wild

The Aztec totem wild symbol is stacked 4 rows high and appears only on the middle reel. Each stacked segment has extendable wings which will spread to cover the symbol either side of it, turning those symbols wild. Depending on how it lands, the totem wild can cover 3, 6, 9 or 12 symbols across the middle 3 reels.

Totem Grace Review

Aztec and classic fruit are among the most popular themes for video slots and there are plenty of free play demo games here that use them. Mixing the 2 themes together is another thing entirely, and sadly, Noble Gaming have ended up with a slot with mismatched visuals, animations and audio styles. The loading screen audio doesn't match the visuals. There are two different styles of artwork on the reels, which led to different types of animations. That doesn't mean themes shouldn't be mixed. GameSys did a good job mixing Aztec with beach themes in their Tiki Totems slot where the animations and cascading reels action blended the two ideas seamlessly. 

The main feature of Totem Grace is the stacked, expanding totem wild, which, if it covers enough symbols, can potentially pull in some spectacular wins. However, the bright blue, 4 symbol stack couldn't be seen at all during reel spin animations, suggesting the advertised wild feature might be absent from the game altogether. It was only after some extensive playing that a wild finally appeared from nowhere on the bottom row. In addition to the frustrating gameplay, information on the game's paytable and rules is incomplete and the autoplay function is difficult to use. Our Noble Gaming slots page does offer some better games from the same developer and it's worth trying some of them out. Totem Grace, however, was a disappointing experience, and we wouldn't recommend it.
