Design
Christmas Reactors’ theme is cute and fun, and we love it because it doesn’t take itself very seriously. We admit, we’re not a big fan of Christmas slots that are touchy-feely, so this title is perfect for our tastes. Inside each ‘reactor’ is a Christmas character, including elves, Santa, reindeer, turkeys and polar bears.
Their faces light up and become animated whenever they are involved in a win, and it all very cute. This type of look may not be for everyone, but it is something that appeals across the board.
Format
Christmas Reactors is quite similar to Microgaming’s Chain Reactors online slots game. Instead of having paylines that dictate wins, winning combinations are determined by the number of like symbols that appear in groups on the board.
When the player ‘spins’ the reels, symbols fall from the top of the screen. Whenever three or more symbols appear in a group, a payout is awarded, and the symbols involved in the win disappear. New symbols fall into their places, offering players the ability to make multiple winning combinations in a single spin. The more symbols involved in the chain, the bigger the prize.
This format is actually quite common among online slots, but we have never seen it put to use in a Christmas slots game before. Other titles that offer tumbling reels are Da Vinci Diamonds and Pixies of the Forest, which can be played for free at Slot Temple.
Our Verdict
Christmas Reactors is one of the better Christmas-themed slots out there in the online casino market. With a fun theme and innovative format, it is certainly worth giving this game a spin.
If you’re a fan of classic slots, however, Christmas Reactors may not be your cup of tea. So, we would suggest other Christmas slots like Ghosts of Christmas or Secret Santa.
