This week, NextGen Gaming released remastered versions of its DC-themed slots: Batman, The Flash and Thee Green Lantern. Each game features a new look that is more in line with modern slot design, and we’re taking a closer look at these new and improved slots.
Batman
Batman features new and improved graphics that do a great job of conveying the look and feel of the Batman comic book series. They are drawn in a comic art style that really looks as though they were pulled from the latest issue. If you’re a bigger fan of the comic book than you are of the movies, this is definitely a game that is up your alley. There is even an epic soundtrack, that immerses you right in the world of Gotham City.
The original and the remastered games both have the same bonus features. In both games, players can win 3 re-spins when Commission Gordon at the Bat Signal appear on reels 1 and 5. During this round, stacked wilds land on reels 2, 3 and 4. Players can also activate the bonus bet, which can potentially trigger the Descent into Madness round where prizes worth up to 100x are available.
The Flash
The Flash has had a similar makeover to Batman’s. While they look quite similar, the graphics are that much more detailed and a bit sharper. In the remastered version, the background has changed, as well, and there is more scenery to look at. This is quite an interesting addition but it does make for a more graphically-rich gaming experience.
Like Batman, the same bonuses are offered. There is a free spins in which players can trigger three different features:
- Mirror Master: offers the ability to replay your last four free spins
- Gorilla Grodd: adds wilds to the reels every round
- Captain Cold: triggers expanding wilds and re-spins
There is also the Speedster Bonus, which is triggered randomly. The Flash will appear on screen to add extra wilds and trigger even more generous winning combinations.
The Green Lantern
Of the three remastered games, The Green Lantern has had the biggest difference. While The Flash and Batman look somewhat similar to their original versions, The Green Lantern has received a complete makeover. The new game has a much more modern look, with much improved graphics. It certainly fits in with today’s newly released slots.
Still, the bonus features are the game in the remastered version and the original. Players are offered the chance to trigger all sort of great cash prizes via the free spins round and the Ring Bonus.
Our Verdict
While the gameplay doesn’t seem to be affected at all, the graphics in each game are markedly different. Each title really has a new, updated look that we’re sure will appeal to a wide range of slots fans.
