Lucksome is a fairly new online slots studio that has been making waves with players. We sat down with the brand's founder Bryan Upton to find out more about Lucksome's approach to creating quality games, what they have planned for the future and their brand-new slotBon Bomb Luxpots™.
Firstly, thanks so much for chatting to us! We’re a big fan of your games at Slots Temple. Just put together a few questions about your team and your upcoming game:
Having come on the scene in 2021, what has it been like entering a market as competitive as online gaming?
Pretty rough but with challenge comes reward and we are up to it. We will keep grabbing players’ attention with great mechanics, graphics and narratives as our games get better and better and our reach gets wider and wider.
I read that members of your team have worked previously for larger studios. How has that experienced influenced your approach to game design?
We have learnt just as much about how not to do something as how to do it. Big studios have advantages over smaller ones, but where we can succeed is through focus on design, quality what players want. Quality will always win over quantity.
What makes Lucksome stand out from other slot makers?
We don’t release a lot of games. As mentioned before, we focus on quality, solid mechanics and games that players can trust and enjoy. We are rolling out new mechanics as we gain traction and have the capabilities of punching above our weight due to the highly experienced team we have.
Your games always have such gorgeous, detailed graphics. What is the design process like at Lucksome?
Either mechanics first or theme first then mechanics wrapped around it. Does the narrative work? Are the mechanics good? We spend a lot of time beating up ideas until they stand up for themselves, or they go in the bin. Of course, a reasonable amount of liquid lubrication is required!
Since Bon Bomb Luxpots™ is your first Megaways slot, what was your main goal when developing this game?
To Stand out. The game is first and foremost a Luxpots™ game. The Megaways provides a great foundation for player experience, but the new and great addition is the Luxpots™ prize ladder, the locking bombs and multipliers in Free Games. I think we are also extremely excited to see what players think of our DoubleLux™ Bonus Buy option. What was the inspiration for the look of Bon Bomb Luxpots™?
Who doesn’t like sweets and candy? We know players like these themes. So we give players what they want. We saw a retro sweet truck here in Malta a few months ago and thought it would be an awesome basis to build some reels into it. Turns out it is!
What is your favourite feature in Bon Bomb Luxpots™?
HAS to be the locking bombs with the multiplying of the Luxpots™ in the Free Games. When that multiplier hits and the ladder upgrades it looks awesome!
Are there any features that you’re looking forward to experimenting with in the future?
More Bonus Buy innovation, we have some interesting new win mechanics coming, and something special for our overall portfolio that is coming soon! We have a new game Gates of Etherea coming which is something to behold, but has obtainable max wins and super stacks and wilds, stay tuned!
What’s in store for Lucksome in the coming year?
Really new mechanics and some great collabs with our friends at Blueprint. The rest of the year and 2023 is shaping up to be a great one for Lucksome
