Despite an increasing number of developers now basing their slot machines some of the most prominent pop culture brands, it is rare for gaming developers to base their games on cartoon series and characters. Since these brands target younger individuals, it just isn’t a good idea to feature them in casino games – but there is one cartoon series that isn’t made with children in mind: Seth McFarlane’s Family Guy.
That’s why IGT’s jumped at the chance to create a branded Family Guy slots game. The company has announced that it will debut at land-based casinos this month, and we’re here to give you a taste of what you can expect.
Game Format
As is the case with many newly released slot machines, Family Guy slots does not use paylines. Instead, players simply wager on the entire game board. This means that there are more winning opportunities for players, as all possible winning combinations are triggered each time the player spins the reel.
The prize for each winning combination is based on how many credits the player wagers.
Design
The colours are bright and bold – just like your average Family Guy episode. Your favourite characters appear on the reels, including Meg, Brian Peter, Stewie and Lois. Other popular items from the show are also included, such as bottles of Peter’s favourite beer and Stewie’s stuffed bear, Rupert.
At random intervals, some symbols are given a cash value. If they appear on the reels – even if they are not part of a winning combination – you win a cash prize!
Bonuses
When three or more World Bonus symbols appear on the reels, the player is taken to a new screen with a globe on it. Using the game’s touch screen, players spin the globe to determine which bonus round they will take part in. There are six available and our favourites are:
Peter vs. The Chicken
There is no scene in a cartoon series that is more iconic than Peter Griffin’s chicken fight. You can choose between the chicken or Peter, and face off against your opponent in the boxing ring. For each successful round, you earn cash prizes.
Lois’ Hot Spins
We don’t think that it’s inappropriate to say that Lois Griffin is one of the most attractive female cartoon characters – aside from Marge Simpson. This bonus puts Lois in the spotlight, presenting you with a new slot machine, in which all of the symbols depict Lois.
There are also some sexually suggestive symbols such as handcuffs and chocolate-covered strawberries. Players don’t spend anything to spin the reels, but they have the potential to cash in on great cash prizes.
Other Features
The new Family Guy slot machine is actually quite hard to fault, likely because there are so many bonus features available. There is something for everyone, presenting little opportunity for players to complain.
