One of Push Gaming’s most successful video slot releases in history, Jammin’ Jars, is the latest high-profile game to be turned into a sequel with Push Gaming confirming the game’s release in June 2021.

Likely to be one of the most highly anticipated slot releases of the year, Jammin’ Jars 2 is expected to offer players enhanced volatility, more win-potential - and the introduction of a brand-new feature called the Giga Jar.

James Marshall - the CEO at Push Gaming - says:

We have continuously received positive feedback from both players and partners on Jammin’ Jars, and we are now finally delighted to say that Jammin’ Jars 2 will soon be a reality...With so many colours, themes and variations to play with, I’m sure we’ve got an incredibly funky series lined up to delight players for years to come.”

Are Sequels The “In Trend” Right Now?

In the past year or so we’ve seen a number of game developers produce sequels to games many would deem iconic - NetEnt’s Dead or Alive II being a great example.

Before its release, many were worried it would end up being a flop - taking away from the retro-like nostalgic feel many players experienced when playing the original Dead or Alive slot. The game’s release soon shut down critics, however, with it going on to become one of the most successful video slots of all time in its own right..

More recently, Relax Gaming released a sequel to their hugely successful Money Train slot - Money Train 2. Like NetEnt, they too enjoyed phenomenal levels of success - with the sequel now attracting a significantly larger number of players each day than the original.

Aside from the improved graphics in both sequels, many argue the reason behind the new game’s popularity is the increased volatility - and subsequently win-potential. It seems almost an unwritten rule that if a game developer is to make a sequel out of an already successful slot, they can’t just make it look better - they’ve got to add to the win-potential, too.

While NetEnt and Relax Gaming both saw success with these sequel releases, it’s not always easy sailing.

Bigger Win Potential Isn’t Always Better

Play’n Go’s Reactoonz 2 - a highly anticipated slot within the iGaming industry - proved to be what most players would consider a relatively big flop. While the game offers a slight increase in win-potential over the original, the gameplay mechanic had simply changed too much - with spins taking long periods of time to play-out, even when there was a minor win.

It’s a good example of how, even with added win-potential, sequels aren’t always “snapped up” by video slot fanatics.

Will Jammin’ Jars 2 follow the likes of Dead or Alive II and Money Train 2? Or will it join Reactoonz 2 on the “what could have been” list of games that are soon forgotten.

Only time will tell, but Push Gaming have promised more details in the coming weeks, and we’ll let you know more about the game as soon as they release more information!
