Glu Mobile is making a very successful foray into the world of real-money gambling. The company started is journey into the social gambling word at the beginning of 2013, and now Glu Mobile is expanding its offering to include a total of six innovative mobile casino titles.
Existing Games
The first mobile slot released by Glu Mobile was Samurai Vs Zombies Defense. The game is based on Glu Mobile’s social gaming app of the same name. The mobile slot features characters from the original game, so fans of Glu Mobile will be attracted to the title.
Contract Killer was the second title from Glu Mobile, released in May 2013. Like the first game, it is based on an original Glu Mobile social game. It includes features from the original Contract Killer social game, making a great transition from social gaming to social gambling.
New Games
Five new games will be released by Glu Mobile this week. They are: Long John’s Silver HD, Poseidon’s Kingdom HD, War Zone HD, Pots of Plenty HD and Way of the Slot HD. Few details have been released, so players are eager to see what Glu Mobile has in store for them.
Some of the new titles are not directly based on existing Glu Mobile titles, so we wonder if they will experience the same success as Contract Killer and Samurai vs Zombie Defense slots.
HTML5
All of the new mobile slots from Glu have been developed using HTML5 rather than traditional native development methods. As such, the games are available on all mobile platforms: iOS, Blackberry and Android.
This is quite common with existing mobile apps but has yet to catch on in the mobile casino world. It is beneficial to players because it means any type of mobile device can access the games.
Compared to Zynga?
Zynga’s foray into the online casino world has not been entirely successful. Zynga Plus Poker and Zynga Plus Casino are struggling to attract players.
On one hand, the company is having trouble converting social gaming players into real-money casino players. On the other hand, Zynga is finding it difficult to compete with existing online gaming operators.
Glu Mobile could experience the game difficulty, but the company has chosen a less competitive market to enter. There are only a few real-money mobile slots available at the moment, whereas there are hundreds of traditional online slots operators.
As such, Glu Mobile does not have very much competition and can corner the market early.
