Sam Simon is best known as the creator of The Simpsons. He has had remarkable success in the entertainment industry, and is also quite successful in his poker career. Over the years, he has cashed in over two dozen high-profile poker tournaments. He was even featured in a series of High Stakes Poker, alongside professionals players like Phil Laak.
Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly is a celebrated actress, having been nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Bullets Over Broadway. In 2005, she made her breakthrough performance in the poker market when she received a WSOP bracelet for winning the $1000 No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament for $158 000.
She is now married to Phil Laak, another professional poker player. (Fun fact: she was previously married to Sam Simon).
Over the years, Laak has accumulated $3.1 million in tournament poker winnings, and he has one WSOP bracelet. He has a fairly strong presence in the public eye, having appear on several poker television shows like High Stakes Poker and The Big Game.
Toby Maguire
Former Spiderman star Tobey Maguire is rumoured to be a hugely successful poker player. According to reports, he has earned millions of dollars from playing cash game poker in Los Angeles.
In the tournament poker circuit, he has cashed in a dozen tournaments since 2004, including a first place win at the $2800 Phil Hellmuth Invitation during the National Championship of Poker. Several of his other cashes have taken place during the WSOP and WPT.
