Israeli Army Views Pokemon Go As A Threat
According to the New York Times, the Israeli Army has warning soldiers about the potential risks of playing Pokemon Go. Soldiers have been banned from using the app, due to security concerns. The activation of the player’s camera and location can result in sensitive information being leaked.
Dead Bodies Found
The game requires players to get out of the house explore areas that they wouldn’t normally visit – so, it is no surprise that some people are finding all sorts of interesting locations. But, it all stopped being fun and games on July 10th, when a young girl in Wyoming stumbled upon a corpse while hunting Pokemon. It was certainly a one-in-a-million situation – or, was it?
Just over a week later, a Danish man discovered another dead body while out hunting for POkemon in Odense. The body was found in a canal, and was eventually identified as convicted killer, Simon Bolt Brinkmann.
New York Governor Bans Sex Offenders from the App
There have been many reports of criminals using lure modules to attract players to Pokestops in order to rob them. This highlighted the potential dangers of the app, and some politicians have introduced new safeguards to further protect Pokemon Go players.
In New York, for example, Governor Andrew Cuomo has banned people on the sex registry from playing the game. He was concerned about sex offenders using the same tactics as robbers, dropping lures to attract young children near them. In addition to banning them from the game, all items and Pokestops near their homes have been ordered to be removed.
Finding Love On Pokemon Go
One of the more positive stories that we’ve found is about people who ended up going on a date after bonding over Pokemon Go. While we never find out if they end up happily ever after, the story recounts her experience of meeting a new romantic interest simply because she caught his eye while they were both playing the game in the same area.
Many players are making new friends through the game, so it’s not entirely outside of the realm of possibility that some players would form a love connection!
