Introduction

The Wall is a hugely popular American game show that is broadcast by NBC and hosted by Chris Hardwick. The show centres around contestants who try to win as much money as possible by dropping balls down a 40ft pegboard and answering trivia questions.

This innovative and exciting slot from Gaming1 takes inspiration from the TV show and translates it into a game that’s rewarding and filled with suspense to bring The Wall into your home in a new way.

To win The Wall, all you need to do is line up 3+ matching symbols along one of the available paylines. The Wild symbol in this game takes the form of the white ball and can be used to substitute for any symbols excluding the Scatter to help you win better rewards.

The bonus game is triggered with 3+ Bonus Ball symbols and features a variety of levels inspired by the game show, which we’ll look at in more detail later in this slot review.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

This slot has been well designed to match the game show that inspired it. Behind the reels you’ll see part of the set for the show, flush with blue lights. The reels have been kept really simple and are filled with classic dice, the only exceptions to which are the Wild and Scatter which take the appearance of some of the balls used in the show. The soundtrack is also in keeping with the theme of this slot and includes plenty of sounds from the show.

The Wall RTP & Volatility

The Wall is a medium volatility slot. Unfortunately, as is the case with many Gaming1 demo slots, we weren’t able to confirm the RTP for The Wall.

How to Play The Wall

Whenever we’re faced with a new online slot, we always like to spend some time getting to know the rules and controls. For this game, all the controls are found beneath the reels:

1. To start, click the ‘?’ icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to bring up information including the paytable, paylines, bonus features, and rules for The Wall.

2. Next, set your stake using the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons by the bet level adjuster.

3. One you’re happy with your wager, click the large ‘Spin’ button in the centre of the control panel to spin the reels once

4. If you prefer to play a more hands-free game, click the ‘Auto’ button to the left of the ‘Spin’ option to set up automatic gaming and any limits.

5. You can keep an eye on your available credits and latest wins to the right of the control panel.

You can set your bet in The Wall from 0.10 up to 10.00 per spin, which is a decent betting range even if arguably not quite high enough for some of the biggest high rollers out there.

Bonus Features

The bonus game in this slot is called Face The Wall and is inspired, again, by the gameshow. It’s comprised of a few rounds and is triggered when you land 3+ Bonus Scatter symbols in any position on the reels.

1. Choice of Gate

When you first trigger the bonus game, you can link each Bonus symbol to one of the 7 available gates to lock that gate until the end of the bonus game. These gates will release balls during the next phases of the bonus.

2. Green Drop

During the Green Drop round, green balls will drop along the wall one after another until they reach the prize sockets, which have values attached to them. The prizes awarded in this round will depend where the balls land and how many.

3. The Contract

Once the balls have dropped, you will be offered the chance to swap free spins and multipliers for the prizes you’ve already earned. You can choose whether to accept the free spins or continue with the bonus game.

If you choose the free spins, you’ll return to the reels and enjoy free spins with a 2x multiplier. No bonus symbols will be available during this round.

4. Red Drop

If you refuse the free spins and multipliers, then you’ll move onto the Red Drop, where red balls will be dropped into the prize sockets. This time, any red ball that falls into the prize socket will deduct from the winnings you landed in the Green Drop.

Conclusion

Overall, we thought The Wall by Gaming1 was a great tribute to the successful gameshow it's based on. We felt like the symbols could maybe have been more themed, but the intricacy of the bonus round and brilliant sound effects and graphics definitely made up for this! We would have maybe liked to see a wider betting range in The Wall, with the chance to win some higher prizes in the base game.
