Some time around 1162, a boy called Temüjin Borjigin was born to one of the nomadic tribes of what is now Mongolia. He would grow to become a mighty warrior and the first Great Khan of what would become the second-largest empire in history (after the British Empire). We know him as Genghis Khan.

Genghis Khan was an often fierce leader who nevertheless united local tribes and expanded his territory throughout Central Asia and China. The Mongol army was famous for its horsemanship, with its cavalry allowing it to travel long distances quickly and efficiently. Combined with advanced tactics and modern technology, this gave them the advantage over many larger armies and settled populations.

The descendants of Genghis Khan would continue to build his empire, with its borders at one point stretching from Eastern Europe to North India to the most eastern parts of Asia. Succession disputes would eventually divide the empire into multiple smaller states, but its influence would continue to be felt across Eurasia.

Graphics & Sound of Wild Warrior

The graphics of this slot admittedly aren’t the most exciting in the world. You can just see the steppes in the background - rolling plains of grass rising through the hill to a band of blue sky - but it doesn’t quite recreate the scale and beauty of the same scene in real life. The reels themselves are clear and uncomplicated, with thematically appropriate symbols such as horses, sabres and ger (a form of yurt, or portable tent) interspersed with card symbols. There’s also a continuous soundtrack to help create atmosphere.

Wild Warrior Gameplay

This isn’t a complicated slot, but there are a few settings you should be aware of before you click Spin. The maximum number of paylines for this slot is 40, but that doesn’t mean you have to play with 40. You can adjust it by using the arrows on either side of the lines display until it’s as low as one if you really want a challenge. The other display and adjustor is the Bet Per Line, which is on the other side of the Spin button at the bottom right. Spin itself is in the centre, with autoplay and Max Bet buttons attached to it.

You win when you match consecutive symbols from left to right across the payline. The shield is a Scatter that appears on the first, third and fifth reels and can be used to trigger bonus features. It’s also the only symbol that can’t be substituted by the Wild, in this case represented by the Khan himself. When it hits, the Wild can expand to fill an entire reel.

Your bet range is going to depend on how many lines you have in play. If you only have one line, the lowest bet is one and the highest is 20. If you’re playing the full 40 lines, your bet range is between 40 and 800. This gives you a pretty decent range.

The size of your win won’t just depend on your bet but on which symbols you manage to match. As with most slots, the card symbols are at the bottom of the paytable. The 6, 8, J, Q and K all offer five for three matches, 20 for four and 100 for five. The 6 even offers a small payout for two matches. The biggest scorer in the card symbols is the A, which, like the wrist bands, pays ten, 40 and 150.

Then we have the other themed symbols, starting with boots and ger at ten, 75 and 200, then arrows and swords at 20, 80 and 300 depending on the number of matches. Appropriately considering the importance of the horse in Mongol culture, the horse sits near the top of the paytable with 25, 90 and 450 as the rewards for three, four and five matches respectively. The only thing to beat is in the Khan himself on the Wild, starting at 10 for two matches and rising through 50 and 250 until it tops at a very impressive 2000.

The shield doesn’t just act as a Scatter; it also triggers a free spin bonus round with multipliers. You need three shields to activate the bonus, but then you have to pick just one shield to decide whether your multiplier will be 2x or 4x. Wild Warrior’s RTP does vary slightly depending on where you’re playing, so make sure you check with your host.
