Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

The graphic style is a little crude and cartoonish. You can’t help feeling it could look a little more like a graphic novel or anime video. How to Play Zhan Hun

1. You need to land 5 or more matching symbols adjacently, either horizontally or vertically but not diagonally.
2. Before the game starts you must choose your Ninja character from the choice of 2. Once you have done this the reels will load and you will see your character on the battleground above the reels.
3. Click the minus and plus buttons to the left and right sides of the bet value indicator to select your bet settings. The coin value is automatically multiplied by 10 as the cost of each spin.
4. You cannot set any preferences for auto play mode. If you click the small play button, auto mode will begin until you click again to switch it off. During auto mode the reels will spin automatically until a bonus feature is triggered.
5. Press the odometer to enter fast spin mode. In this mode some of the animations and sounds will not be played. Press it again to return to normal speed.
6. Press the play button or the space bar to spin the reels with the current bet. Press it again to stop the reels. 
7. Click on the i to call up the reference page, which gives details of the various features of the game and click the ? for basic instructions.
8. Your credit balance is permanently displayed in the bottom left corner of the black bar and updates after each spin. The mute button and game history button are at the bottom right.
9. You attack your enemy once every time you land on a winning combination of firearms. The more powerful the weapon the stronger your attack. If you land 3 or more grenades in any position you will beat your enemy immediately.
10. Every win in the main game or free games will trigger the collapsing reels feature. Once all wins are counted any symbol that made up the winning combination will be removed from the reels and leave a vacant position. New symbols will fall from above and fill the spaces. These new symbols may then create new winning combinations. After any new wins are awarded the winning symbols will again be removed. This process will repeat until there are no more winning combinations. Winning grenade symbols will also disappear.

Zhan Hun Review: Our Verdict

The battleground feature is very appealing, even if it does celebrate mayhem and death. It adds a layer of context so that instead of spinning to win, you are spinning to battle to win. Although it would be nice to have some background to the conflict, it still works to keep your interest. Not much in the way of extras, but the central idea is a clever stroke and the decent RTP is another point in its favour.
