This week, Play n Go launched its new online pokie, Cloud Quest. The game has received quite a lot of buzz from gaming blogs, and we’re eager to see if the game lives up to the hype. Read on to find out more about Cloud Quest, and whether or not it is worth your wagers.

Theme and Graphics

The first thing that you will notice about this game is that it is absolutely stunning. The graphics are vibrant, and animated in a style that is similar to fantasy-themed video games. If you’re a fan of these types of games, then you will likely notice some similarities between Cloud Quest and titles like Final Fantasy.

The wizard character looks a whole lot like black mages that are common in fantasy video games and the overall look of the game closely resembles the setting of Final Fantasy 8.

Battle Bonus

A three-reel slots game appears in-between the two opponents. Players can cash in on prizes from the slots game, and if three target symbols appear on the payline, then the player will defeat the monster.

With each monster they defeat, the player will receive extra free spins free spins, and their prizes will increase for the next battle round. This bonus will continue until the final monster is defeated or they lose a battle.

Super Powers

There are several different bonus features that can be triggered during the base game. They are triggered when the power meter fills up, as players collect crystal symbols. Each one is a re-spin bonus with a special feature:

  • Five of Fortune – all wins are multiplied by 5
  • Emblem of Endurance – initial wild symbols are cleared only when they are part of an all-wild winning combination
  • Scatter of Success – all symbols offer scatter pays
  • Mark of Multitude – all winning combinations create wild symbols

Levelling Up

As players defeat each monster, they will receive experience points. This will help them to level up and improve their ranking. It would be great if levelling up unlocked more features, but this doesn’t seem to have any actual bearing on the gameplay.

However, it helps to make the play feel more like they are playing a video game than an online slot.

Our Verdict

Cloud Quest seems to be one of Play n Go’s best titles so far. We were very impressed with the graphics and the wide range of base game bonus features.

While the Level Up feature is essentially useless, we loved the Battle Bonus which makes for exciting gameplay and a unique gaming experience.
