Immortal Romance is one of the most successful video slots ever created and, every year, its reels are spun millions of times by players from around the world. The slot’s highly volatile nature offers some insane win-potential, and a plethora of bonuses and features ensures non-stop entertainment.
A couple of years ago, Microgaming made the decision to port Immortal Romance over the HTML5 at most online casinos, and since then, its popularity has dwindled. The game typically doesn’t play as well, and the user-interface looked clunky and uninspiring.
That’s why we were happy to discover that now, Microgaming has announced they’re releasing a remastered version of the game - and while the game itself remains the same, there’s a few core differences that aim to improve player experience.
What’s Changed?
The game’s mathematics remain unchanged - as do the bonuses and features. For example, you’ll still find the Wild Desire feature triggering randomly during the base-game, and the Chamber of Spins bonus lets you choose one of four free spins rounds, with varying degrees of volatility. The wild symbols also continue to multiply wins by 2X during the base-game.
In the old version of Immortal Romance, the maximum bet was 15 coins. The remastered version of the game boasts a max bet of 30 coins, which should please players looking to high-roll the game. There is also an array of enhanced desktop and mobile consoles, which should smooth out the gameplay - something many players were complaining about.
Quick spin will be enabled by default (something the HTML5 version had turned off), and the overall animations and sounds have all been enhanced, delivering a more immersive experience.
The autoplay function also makes a reappearance in the remastered version. This was one of the major reasons why many players had stopped playing the HTML5 version of the game; who wants to click every spin manually after all? There are also more intuitive menus and free games support.
Will Immortal Romance Remastered Be Microgaming’s Comeback?
Over the last few years, Microgaming have largely stopped producing games themselves, outsourcing game development to small game studios. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these games offer low win-potential, and are regularly cited by players as being underwhelming. It’s almost as though Microgaming has lost their touch.
Whether Immortal Romance Remastered can mark the start of Microgaming’s comeback into the iGaming industry remains to be seen - but it’s clear that it’s a move in the right direction, and it’s likely we’ll see them releasing remastered editions of some of their other popular slots like Thunderstruck II and Playboy.
