There’s something very peaceful and relaxing about bubbles - who hasn’t whiled away some time happily popping bits of bubble wrap, or watching entranced as random bubbles float away from the washing up? Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

Bubble Double sounds as though is should be filed away in our cartoon themed slots section, but it’s actually a fruit-based game. For some reason known only to the team at KA Gaming, they decided to make this a retro-themed fruit game, in which every piece of fruit is encased in bubbles. Each bubble is tinted the colour of the fruit inside, which makes for quite a colourful game, with blueberries, watermelons, pineapples and even starfruit putting in an appearance. The bubbles are nicely highlighted, and they bounce slightly as they land, which is quite relaxing to watch.

The pieces of fruit only escape from the bubbles when they feature in a winning combination with a wild multiplier, which gives an exciting effect. And there’s a happy soundtrack to accompany gameplay, with gentle, synthesised tunes that add to the fun.

How to Play Bubble Double

Like all KA Gaming slots, Bubble Double is really easy to play, with clear and intuitive controls.

Bubble Double Bonus Features

The multicoloured W is the game’s wild symbol. It only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 so it can’t generate any wins of its own - symbols have to appear on reel 1 to start any winning combination. But this wild expands on the reel to cover all three positions, creating a Stacked Wild Reel with every appearance.

And it gets even better! Every wild comes with a 2x multiplier, and where two or three Wild Reels land, the multipliers are added together. That can lead to some big cash payouts if you’re playing for real money.

Although Bubble Double paylines operate from left to right, there’s one exception. Where Stacked Wild Reels occur on reels 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously, the game will also pay out wins from right to left. This won’t happen for five-of-a-kind wins though, which only ever pay out one way.

Overall Review

We didn’t have particularly high expectations of Bubble Double when we first started playing. Although the graphics are nice to look at and the soundtrack is perfectly pleasant, the gameplay itself seemed quite lacklustre. And sure enough, it wasn’t too long before our balance was dwindling away in spite of fairly regular wins. Take a look at the paytable and you’ll see that the rewards are really very low - you have to climb five symbols up the paytable and then hit five of a kind to even win back your stake!

But we persevered, and soon we were landing the Expanding Wild Reels feature. When it lands on reel 4, it’s unlikely to generate a win, but on reel 2 there’s a very good chance that it could generate multiple wins with each spin. Thanks to the Winning Ways mechanic, the Win Multipliers combine to create some very big payouts. This definitely isn’t a game for low-risk players - although everyone can enjoy playing it in demo mode with no financial risk at all.

So is this game a better bet than Double Bubble? Overall, we’d have to say not, but try them both yourself and let us know if you disagree!
