Maverick only came into being within the last two years, so we haven’t yet come across many of their games. But this is clearly a young, vibrant company if the reels of Drift are anything to go by. The theme is as modern as it gets, with a selection of slick boy and girl racers all keen to demonstrate their driving skills across the streets of Asia

Graphics & Soundtrack

Japanese anime-style graphics are offset by neon symbols on the reels of Drift. This gives even the playing card symbols a fresh and modern look, that feeds into the ethos of the game. Higher-value symbols are represented by neon ramen noodles, sailing ships and crabs. The instantly-recognisable Yin Yang symbol is the game’s Scatter, while the Wild is represented by the popular Beckoning Cat figure, which is popular throughout Asian culture.

Even the game’s soundtrack is modern and cutting-edge. Unmistakably Asian in tone, it’s jazzed up the addition of synthesizers to complement the gameplay.

RTP & Volatility

The stated RTP of Drift is 95.4%, which is a little low for our liking but still sits above our cut-off point of 95%. Unfortunately, at the time of preparing our review, Maverick hadn’t yet released details about the game’s volatility. We’ll update this information as soon as it becomes available, but until then, we advise caution if you’re planning on playing Drift with your own cash.

How to play Drift

1. Adjust the size of your bet using the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons above and below the Spin button.

The Beckoning Cat symbol is the game’s Wild. Although it only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 so it can’t trigger any wins on its own, it substitutes for all other symbols apart from the Scatter. And it also appears stacked, which means it can generate some impressive winning combinations for you. Even better, every win involving a Wild substitution earns a 2x Multiplier!

Free Spins

The Yin Yang symbol is Drift’s Scatter, and landing just two of them in any position on the reels will win you a cash prize. But you’ll need three or more to earn 10 Free Spins. Overall Review

Drift is a smart-looking game that’s clearly had a lot of time and attention spent on it during its development. It’s visually impressive, and the mobile-first design makes it a joy to play across all devices. The five game levels add an extra touch of interest, but we were disappointed to find that there were no progressive features as we moved to each new country. In our opinion, the developers have missed a trick there as it seems currently designed purely to encourage players to keep on playing the game for longer.

It’s a fun game to play, but we highly recommend playing this one for free. With no indication of its volatility, it could be an expensive learning curve to head straight to an online casino to experiment with Drift!
