It’s full of bombast, which is reflected across a paytable that consists almost entirely of fireworks and the titular firecrackers. Red, blue and purple fireworks, along with a set of firecrackers, pay best, followed by green, yellow and pink rockets.

Expanding wilds are hugely welcome. The wild shows a box of fireworks, and if it lands anywhere on the grid it might expand and in doing so occupy a full reel. That, of course, can mean more significant wins.

Theme, Graphics & Design

Fire Crackers puts a great deal of emphasis on its bonus feature to carry the design. The box of fireworks wild is colourful and brimming with energy. When it expands it crackles and glows, filling a reel and bringing the theme to life. It’s a thrilling moment not just because of the potential for larger wins but because the animation is so dramatic.

Elsewhere things are more understated. The background (understandably) only shows the sky at night, with some purple hues around the bottom of the grid. It’s a blank canvas for the symbols, which burst with colour and occasional phosphorescence (especially the green rocket). All the fireworks are nicely bulging and look like they would pack an explosive punch if detonated in real life!

Music fits the mood, and the colour contrasts throughout are eye-catching. Nonetheless, Fire Crackers is more simplistic than it needs to be. Given the theme is fireworks, it would have benefited from some additional on-reel effects like explosions or cascades of light.

Final Thoughts

Fire Crackers is a gorgeous slot that makes fantastic use of colour contrasts to delight the eye. The bright fireworks against the jet black background are appealing, and the sight of the expanding wild makes proceedings even more dramatic.

There is, regrettably, no free spins round, but Nucleus Gaming at least included respins to keep us satisfied. These add ample variety to the slot, and we enjoyed watching the wilds explode to take up whole reels. 

Some additional animations (explosions and the like) would have made Fire Crackers even more memorable, but with respins and expanding wilds, you’ll struggle to keep your eyes off the sky!
