Format and Betting Options
Queen of Alexandria uses a pretty common 5-reel, 3-row format, and there’s 10 fixed paylines in play at all times; these paylines cannot be adjusted. As a result of this layout, the minimum bet in the video slot is just 0.10 credits while the maximum bet per spin is a whopping 200 credits/spin!
Queen of Alexandria’s RTP and Volatility
As you’d probably expect from a video slot that’s modelled pretty much exactly on Starburst, Queen of Alexandria is built around a fairly low variance math model. However, despite the low variance nature of Queen of Alexandria, we found, from writing this slot review, that the base-game can actually play quite harshly. It’s not overly uncommon to go for quite a few spins without hitting any of the expanding wild re-spins.
When it comes to the RTP of Queen of Alexandria, Neon Valley Studios have really let the team down here, we feel. That’s because Queen of Alexandria is built around a very low return to player of just 92.5%.
Bonus Features
In keeping with the fairly bland look and feel of Queen of Alexandria, the software provider behind the slot has chosen to keep things pretty basic in terms of the game’s bonuses and features, too. It’s evident that this is a video slot that centers all around the progressive jackpot - and, unfortunately, not much else.
Expanding Wild Re-spins
Cleopatra - the famed queen of Alexandria - is the main wild symbol in the slot, Queen of Alexandria, and she can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. When she lands in view - and forms part of a win - she will then expand, regardless of how much (or little) of her lands in view. Once she expands, she will then pay out any new winning combos that she helps to form.
Now, once any new wins have been formed, a free re-spin is awarded, and the wild reel will then lock in place. If, on the re-spin, any further Cleopatra symbols land in view, they will also lock in place - pay out any wins - and a further re-spin is awarded. Technically, it’s possible to get up to three re-spins in total.
Jackpot Feature
Queen of Alexandria really is all about the progressive jackpot bonus round. Once the progressive jackpot bonus round is activated, you’ll then be taken to a giant wheel of fortune-like spinning wheel. You simply get a spin of this wheel, and the notch will then land on one of the four colours; green, red, blue and yellow.
Whichever colour the wheel’s notch lands on is the colour of the progressive jackpot you’ll be awarded - and it’s the yellow segment of the wheel you’ll want to land (albeit the smallest) given that doing so awards the ‘WOWPOT’ jackpot which, at the time of writing, is worth over 4,000,000 Euros!
Queen of Alexandria Review
You don’t need to be a particularly seasoned video slot player to see that Queen of Alexandria is pretty much a carbon copy - mechanic wise - as NetEnt’s Starburst. Of course, this isn’t the end of the world but it does show a lack of creativity from the software provider’s side.
Though Queen of Alexandria may be lacking in originality, avid jackpot chasers are unlikely to mind as long as they have a chance to win big. The highest jackpot was worth an eight-figure amount at the time of publishing, and while it’s unlikely we’ll ever see the slot producing wins as big as those seen by Mega Moolah and its counterparts, at least it’s evident that the win-potential is there.
One of the biggest downsides of Queen of Alexandria in our opinion is the simple fact that the game is capped at just 500X per spin, excluding the progressive jackpot wins. That’s way lower than what we’d typically expect to see from a video slot in today’s day and age. Combined with the low return to player, this doesn’t bode overly well for the slot in terms of attracting a mainstream following.

Microgaming now works with a number of small game studios who develop exclusive content for the software provider; Queen of Alexandria is a good example of this, and while the video slot is pushed out using Microgaming’s technology, it has actually been developed by a company called Neon Valley Studios.
What format is the video slot built around?
Neon Valley Studios has opted to develop Queen of Alexandria around a pretty conventional format - and the game utilises a 5-reel, 3-row format. There’s just 10 fixed paylines in play at all times; fixed, in the sense that you cannot adjust or change the number of paylines active.
What are the betting limits in Queen of Alexandria WowPot?
The minimum bet of the video slot is 0.10 credits, while high-rollers will be pleased to learn that they’re able to wager as much as 200 credits each and every spin!
What is the Return to Player of Queen of Alexandria?
When we were writing this review of Queen of Alexandria we were, unfortunately, very disappointed to find the RTP is as low as 92.50%. Of course, we appreciate that it is a progressive jackpot slot - but still, that’s a very low percentage and is likely to turn off quite a substantial number of players, in our opinion.
Does Queen of Alexandria have a progressive jackpot?
Yes! This game comes with the Wowpot progressive jackpot - which is along the lines of Mega Moolah and Mega Moolah ISIS. The main WOWPOT progressive jackpot rarely reaches above $4,000,000.
