The Queen of Aten, better known as Nefertiti, ruled over Egypt with her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten in the 14th century BC. With a name meaning ‘beautiful woman has come’, the powerful queen established the cult of the sun god Aten and ruled alone after her husband died.

Our modern day image of Nefertiti as the embodiment of feminine beauty and power comes from the discovery of an iconic plaster bust in 1913. Graphics & Sound

The visual style of most Spin Games Slots is quite functional, although there are some effective animations in this game including Anubis the jackal-headed god of the underworld, and the queen herself. There’s a rudimentary soundtrack that’s definitely Egypt-lite, overlaid by standard fruit machine sound effects.

The background art is a different matter and beautifully evokes the glorious sunset over the Egyptian palms, but the immersive effect is a little undone by the standard Aristocrat-style royals on the reels.

Our Verdict

There are thousands of ancient Egyptian themed slots out there and there’s not much to differentiate Queen of Aten from many of those games. The artwork and sounds are pretty standard and the gameplay is quite simple, but that’s where this slot scores big.

There’s only one feature available, but if you have the patience to land the free spins they have some decent potential. You’ll be awarded 15 spins that can be retriggered up to 12 times but we got nowhere near that many. However, the 2x multiplier on all wild combo wins and the potential to land a prize of 100x your bet for 5 scatter symbols means this slot can be rewarding - but only if your bankroll is resilient enough.
