Introduction

You may not have come across many Bulletproof Games slots, as the company is very young. The first thing we discovered when writing our Tempered Steel slot review was that the game is one of the company’s very first offerings. Produced in collaboration with Yggdrasil, it turns out to be a very decent online slot.

The Tempered Steel online slot has a five-reel, three-row grid with 20 paylines. There are nine regular symbols: an axe, a crossbow, crossed daggers, a hammer, a sword, and the four playing card suits elegantly forged in steel. The wild is the intimidating forge-master.

How to play Tempered Steel

1. Click on the stake button to call up the bet options and select the one you would like to play.
2. Click the green spin button or press the spacebar to start spinning the reels at the chosen total bet value. Click again to stop the reels.
3. Click the red spin button to enter autospin mode, which enables you to select the number of automatic spins from 10 to 1,000. You can also select a loss limit and a single win limit.
4. To calculate your total payline win, add the wins from different lines together. To calculate a single payline win, count the number of identical symbols on the line starting from the furthest to the left. Only the highest winning combination per line will be paid out. 
5. The wild substitutes for all symbols except the bonus symbol.
6. If a winning combination starts with three wilds, there are several possible permutations with which you can win.
7. Free spins need not be on a winning payline to award a prize.

Tempered Steel bonus features

Lock and spin

The reels go into an extended spin with wild stacks on the reels. Any wild stack that lands in full view locks in place and awards a free respin. If two or more stacks lock in on the same spin, only one free respin is awarded. The bonus ends when no locked-in stack appears or all five reels are wild.

Pick me

The reels go into an extended spin and three blocked-out weapon symbols will be displayed. You reveal the symbols by pressing them three times. The symbol you have selected is then added to the reels, with the reels in play showing extra selected symbols. The reels will land and any wins are paid out.

Bonus frenzy

The reels go into an extended spin and extra bonus symbols appear on the reels, giving a higher chance of winning the free spins bonus.

Free spins

At the start of the round, each reel has a smouldering kiln underneath. At the start of any spin, the kiln can be heated up and the top wild of a stack of wilds appears at the bottom of the reel. 

During the next spin, the added stacked wild will move up one and carry on climbing until it has been removed from the top of the reel.

Each reel has only one stack of wilds and the feature ends once the last stack has been removed unless a retrigger is awarded.

Retriggering free spins

The feature can be retriggered randomly once the final wild has been removed. If a retrigger is awarded, the five kilns below the reels are relit and the stacks will grow in length by one. 

Buy bonus

This enables the player to buy a free spins feature at 100x the chosen stake. The initial spin can award three, four or five bonus symbols.
