This week, Thunderkick announced the release of its latest online slot release, Sunset Delight. It is a new game for the online casino market, but it isn’t an entirely new title altogether. This is because Sunset Delight is actually a remake of the popular Thunderkick title Sunny Scoops. So, we thought we’d take a look at both games and offer up an in-depth comparison.
Graphics
There isn’t really much of a difference between the two games at first glance. Both have high-quality 3D graphics depicting various tasty flavours of ice cream. They are both mouth-watering games with very unique themes.
The design differences are fairly subtle. In Sunny Scoops, there is a blue sky in the background. In Sunset Delight, there is a carnival pier in the background set against a purple sunset.
The ice cream flavours are different as well. Sunny Scoops features chocolate chip, vanilla and traditional flavours, Sunset Delight has sherbet flavours in sunset colours: pink, orange, purple and yellow.
Format
Sunny Scoops offers players 14 paylines and a wide range of betting options while Sunset Delight has the same wagering options but only 5 paylines. This allows players to wager more per payline on Sunset Delight to help potentially trigger bigger wins. However, if you’re looking for high winning frequency, your better bet is Sunny Scoops.
Bonus Features
There is a wider range of bonus features available in Sunny Scoops, as players are offered the chance to spin a bonus reel for multipliers. The bonus wheel is triggered when three symbols of the same kind appear on the same vertical payline. It then spins to reveal a random multiplier between 2x and 7x.
The player can also win free spins with generous re-spins and increasing multipliers. In Sunset Delight, the free spins bonus is triggered by three scatter symbols landing n the reels. A multiplier ladder will appear and the player will receive an additional multiplier for every scatter that is on the reels – up to 100x! So, there is the potential for bigger wins but lower winning potential overall.
Our Verdict
Sunset Delight is better than most remakes out there. Usually, developers simply reskin their games for holidays like Halloween and Christmas (such as Microgaming’s Christmas Reactors and Net Entertainment’s holiday version of Flowers) – but Thunderkick has gone ahead and basically created a whole new game with new bonuses and features.
This is great for players who already enjoy Sunny Scoops but want something a little bit different. It is certainly brings something new to Thunderkick’s catalogue while building on an existing successful theme, and it will appeal to a different type of player.
