Introduction

This seems to be a real boom time for slots game developers. As new markets keep opening up to online casinos, there’s an increasing demand for high-quality and entertaining games. There’s a massive audience for online slots games, so there’s plenty to go round for any enthusiastic developer with something new to add to the mix.

We hadn’t come across Gamzix before, but that’s not surprising considering the company was only set up at the tail end of 2019. Since then, it’s been quietly producing a number of games, and Go Wild is one of the first to be introduced to online players. It’s a fruit-based game with a retro theme, so we’re on the lookout for anything that makes Go Wild stand out from the crowd.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

It’s an overcrowded theme, so lots of developers work hard to bring something new to the table. Think of the hugely popular Cluster Pays mechanic in the Jammin Jars slot as a shining example of a standout feature.

But Gamzix have chosen to go down the well-trodden path of most retro-themed fruit slots with a five-reel, 10-payline grid filled with the usual oranges, plums and grapes. There’s a golden Liberty Bell, too, and a purple 7, which makes a change from the usual red. The background is in muted shades of orange and purple, which looks nicer than it sounds. And the symbols themselves have a highly-polished look, as though they were made from glass. It’s very attractive, but it’s really nothing we haven’t seen a hundred times before.

Gamzix claim to put as much thought into their game soundtracks as they do the gameplay. We can only suppose that the person in charge of Go Wild’s music has a very limited 1970s collection as their inspiration. We found the soundtrack irritating beyond belief, although we struggled in vain to find any mute button!

Go Wild RTP & Volatility

The RTP of 96.35% is just on the right side of average for an online slots game. It’s a medium-volatility game, according to Gamzix, so a modest bankroll probably isn’t going to get you very far. How to Play Go Wild

Go Wild has a rather unconventional control panel, but it’s very easy to master once you understand how the game works.

1. You can’t adjust the paylines, so you only need to decide how much to stake.

2. Rather than selecting values for your coin, the game has multiple Spin buttons, each marked with a different cash sum. Just tap the Spin button with your chosen stake on it to spin the reels.

3. Press the Autoplay button to the far right of your controls to activate automatic spins. These will keep spinning out until you press Autoplay for a second time.

4. View the game rules, paytable and payline configurations from the ‘I’ button.

Go Wild Bonus Features

Bonus features are a little thin on the ground when it comes to playing Go Wild. There’s a Wild symbol, which only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4. When it lands, it expands to cover the entire reel and triggers a free Respin. Land all three Expanding Wild Reels with a single spin to experience some big cash payouts from the game.

There’s an optional double-or-nothing gamble feature that follows every win, and there are four Jackpot prizes that can be awarded via the random bonus game. Pick three matching cards showing either the Mini, Minor, Major or Mega Jackpot symbols to win the corresponding prize pot.

Overall Review

There’s not an awful lot to be said about Go Wild. It’s another fruit-based game in a style that we’ve seen done so many times before - and with less annoying soundtracks, too! If this is representative of the Gamzix demo slots currently on offer, we struggle to see a bright future for this young development company. It’s a perfectly workable game, but with no real bonus features to speak of, it really brings nothing new to what is already an overcrowded market.

Classic fruit slots fans will undoubtedly want to try a few spins of Go Wild. We don’t think many of them will be sticking around in the long-term, however. There’s very little to keep players engaged, aside from the Jackpot prizes.
