AvatarUX has come up with a number of different themes with which to pair its innovative PopWins mechanic, including classic fruit machine aesthetics and the Chinese zodiac. This time around, there’s a more urban twist to the design of this game, as HipHopPop takes place in a very cool nightclub setting.

As you would expect from a game called HipHopPop, there’s a very funky soundtrack that plays along as you spin the reels. It’s perfectly paired with the neon lights and nightlife scene of the slot.

HipHopPop Slot RTP and Variance

HipHopPop has a variable RTP. So, depending on where you play it, it can be either 90.5%, 94% or 96.1%. To find out the exact RTP of this game, click on menu in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and select Game Info. Scroll down to the almost the bottom and you’ll see the exact payout percentage when you’re playing for real money.

This is also a very highly volatile. With a 50,000x top prize, it makes sense that the variance level would be so high.

How to Win

When you begin playing HipHopPop, you have 486 ways to win and you create these wins by landing three or more matching symbols beside each other on the reel. The combination doesn’t have to start from the leftmost reel, either, which is why this isn’t your typical All Ways slot.

After you hit a win, the symbols involved in the combination will pop and another symbol position will appear, increasing in the number of ways to win. Up to 6 symbols can appear during the base game – or, 9 in the free spins round.  

Free Spins and Bonuses

The free spins bonus is triggered when all reels have 6 symbols on them. During this bonus, the reels can continue to expand (up to a maximum of 9 positions) and they increase doesn’t reset in between spin.

Before the round begins, though, you have the chance to spin a gamble wheel to enhance your bonus. You can receive between 9 and 13 free spins depending on how your spin goes, and you can trigger the following perks:

• Guaranteed Wilds: Wilds will appear on the reels on every spin.
• Synced Reels: Two or more reels display the same symbols, like in NetEnt’s Twin Spin slot.

During the free spins round, there is also an increasing multiplier. After every win, the multiplier increases by +1. Once the reels fully expand to 9 symbols high, then the multiplier increases to +4 on every win.

HipHopPop Review – Our Verdict

We’re always thrilled to experience the PopWins mechanic in new ways and, although HipHopPop doesn’t bring us much more in terms of gameplay, the theme is definitely unique. The addition of synced reels is also a nice touch, and we'd like to see more of these little perks in future PopWins games. 

So, if you like the combination of expanding reels, increasing multipliers and free spins, HipHopPop is certainly worth a spin.
