Introduction
Avatar UX have emerged from nothing to become quite a well-known figurehead in the online gambling industry, and their first two releases - PopRocks and WildPops - have both gone on to achieve impressive levels of success online, with many players choosing to play them over more conventional games.
This is thanks to their unique game engine and the fact that there’s some significant win-potential - and CherryPop is the third installment to the developer’s portfolio, offering just as much action - and win-potential - as the previous two titles.
Betting Options at RTP
CherryPop can be played from as little as 0.20 credits and as much as 40 credits per spin, although - as we always say - specific stake sizes may vary depending on the online casino you choose to play at.
The game carries a fixed RTP of 96.2%, and we’ve been told by the game’s developer that the slot’s hit rate averages out at around 22% - so, essentially, you can expect to form a win once in every five spins.
Format and Volatility
The game looks great, and bright neon-like graphics and images greet you from the moment you first load up the slot. Initially, the game has five reels and 243-ways-to-win - however, due to the fact that CherryPop “pays both ways” the number of paylines is, essentially, doubled, to 486-ways-to-win.
How PopWins Work
As with the other “PopWins” games, CherryPop has quite a bit going on - and each time a win is formed, what’s known as the PopWins feature is triggered. When this happens, any symbols that were involved in the win disappear off the screen, and each empty position is then filled with two new symbols.
Due to the fact that there are now more symbols than there were previously, the size of the reels actually increases - and it’s possible to expand the reels by 6 in the base-game. This mechanic continues until a win is no longer formed, at which point the reels “reset” and a new game begins.
Free Spins Bonus
If you manage to expand all five reels to 6 rows in height, you’ll trigger the Free Spins bonus. This awards you with five free games, although before they do you’re given the chance to gamble your spins on the “Gamble Wheel”. This allows you to gamble your initial 5 spins all the way up to 16 - but, of course, you can also end up with nothing, so it depends how much risk you’re willing to take on!
During the free-spins round, a progressive win multiplier comes into play, and this begins at 2X. Each PopWin adds 1X to the multiplier, and there’s no upper limit to how high the win multiplier can become.
Our Verdict Of CherryPop
CherryPop is the third installment in Avatar UX’s “PopWins” slots, and we’d say that it falls somewhere between the last two in terms of volatility and win-potential. The first game released by Avatar UX was incredibly volatile - and while this suits some players - those who go in search of the “big wins” - it was a little too much for many, which is why their second release - WildPops - was built around a slightly less volatile math mode.
Graphically, CherryPop looks good, and Avatar UX have nailed the visuals, sounds and animations. We’re still not entirely sure what the game is actually themed around - but in the grand scheme of things this isn’t a huge issue, but it’s something we feel the game developer could improve on in future releases.
It’s a volatile machine for sure, but it doesn’t appear too hard to unlock some of the game’s win-potential - and we expect it to prove to be popular with players, especially thanks to the fact that it’s pushed out via Yggdrasil.

CherryPop Slot FAQs
Who actually makes CherryPop?
There’s been a bit of confusion surrounding the past couple of releases from Avatar UX; that’s because, despite Avatar UX being the game developer who makes the games, they’re actually distributed and pushed out via Yggdrasil’s gaming platform. As a new game developer, Avatar UX simply don’t have the connections in the iGaming world to reach as many customers and online casinos on their own - and that’s why they’ve teamed up with Yggdrasil to ensure their slot can reach as many players as possible.
What’s the theme of CherryPop?
Theme-wise, it’s not immediately clear what CherryPop is about; clearly, the Cherries have some relevance, but they don’t make up too much of the game - and we feel that Avatar UX have chosen to go with a kind of neon, futuristic theme here.
What’s the maximum number of ways-to-win in CherryPop?
When the grid is fully unlocked, there’s a whopping 59,049-ways-to-win active in CherryPop. This is where the game’s biggest win-potential lies - and it’s where you’re very likely to see most of the big win pictures we’re sure will follow the slot’s release!
What’s the bonus buy all about?
If you want to skip through the gameplay and get straight to the bonus round you’ll be able to pay a total of 75X your stake. Doing so will instantly trigger the main bonus round, although be warned; it can get quite expensive as the bonus round is so volatile, so it’s not uncommon to see quite a few dead bonuses back-to-back!
What’s the RTP of CherryPop?
CherryPop has an RTP of 96.2%. This is a relatively normal RTP in today’s iGaming industry, and while it’s not incredibly high, it’s definitely better than any of the RTPs we’re used to seeing - so no complaints here.
