Graphics & Sound

Built for mobile gaming, Jellypop Humming is unusual in that it’s designed to play in portrait orientation rather than landscape, reminding us of the old Tetris puzzle games. There are no reels, and sweets drop from the top of the screen landing in 4x4, 5x5 and 6x6 formations.

The simple graphics are built to load fast on a handheld gadget and are bright, colourful and good enough to eat. As you progress through the levels, you’ll encounter different type of sweets with stripes and clear jelly, plus special symbols to collect. It’s a simple and compelling design, and the jaunty soundtrack complements the visuals perfectly. As for the title, we haven’t got a clue.

How to Play

You’ll start in 4x4 mode with symbols dropping from the top of the screen to hopefully create groups of matching symbols either horizontally or vertically on adjacent reels. You’re aiming to match four or more in the first round, five or more in round two, and six or more in round three. Matching symbols then disappear from the screen and others fall into their place like a cascading reels slot.

The aim of each round is to clear all 15 special symbols and progress to the next level. You’re looking out for a lollipop on level one, a cherry bomb on level two, and a pitcher of delicious fruity drink on level three. If you play on Auto 2, an entire game takes just a few minutes and left us feeling oddly passive as this slot lacks the skill-based decisions you’ll find in Candy Crush. And we still have no idea what Jellypop Humming actually means.
