Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The game’s graphics are typical of Mancala gaming - clear, bright and with primary colours. Still, purple and cyan were probably not a big thing in medieval times. In this instance we have two opposing kings and their dragons, one green and one red. The orange dragon appears to have an older king counterpart.

Could this be a case of the younger king challenging his father to take control of the kingdom? Possibly. The old guy’s dragon looks in better shape, though, so we’re predicting an orange victory.

Most of the other icons and characters within the game are either dragons or covered in dragon scales. Apart from the green eye, which, to be honest, looks like a cat’s eye, although no furry felines are anywhere else to be seen.

The soundtrack is suitably medieval and also quite triumphant. Fittingly, the rest of the game’s sound effects steer clear of anything from the digital age that would obviously break the theme and be therefore inappropriate. Think foot stomping, clacking and gunfire. No bleeps, whooshes or zaps here. Of course, there were no dragons either in medieval times.

It may all get a bit much soundwise if you’re playing the game for an extended period of time, in which case you’ll want to mute the soundtrack and choose your own playlist.

1. First, check out the game rules. The i button on the bottom panel on the far left will show you the paylines, features and paytable.

2. You can adjust your bet amount between 1 and 90 by clicking the + and - symbols under BET on the bottom right of the screen. As you do this, you will see the bet amount per line change just above these tabs. Or you can select MAX BET to the left of the play button.

Our Verdict

This medieval themed slot runs a direct line through the middle ground. If you’re a fan of the medieval genre, though, it’s probably not going to be detailed enough in its narrative for you. Obviously, historical purists will positively balk at the inclusion of dragons over horses. A few shields and moats to placate the history buffs might have been nice.

As far as the gameplay goes, it’s typical of Mancala. Some better mini-games and feature diversions would have been nice, as the core gameplay is fairly standard. Wins appear to be fairly frequent, but they’re usually at the low end. If you do manage to score a high win early on, this might be as good as it gets and you’ll want to think about cashing in.

Once an RTP and volatility have been established for this game, it’ll be easier to make a judgement on whether this is a game that everyone should check out or merely one for fans of the genre.
