Introduction

Lotsa Lines has been developed by Dreamtech in association with Yggdrasil, an award-winning Sweden-based game developer that takes its name from a sacred tree from Norse mythology. With Lotsa Lines, it has been asked to produce a fitting addition to the range of Dreamtech free play slots. It is a fairly pared-down form of slot game, reminiscent of traditional formats such as the Lucky Fruit Lines slot from 7Mojos but with a highly futuristic look. As with most demo slots, it manages to offer much of the enjoyment of the real-money version.

Lotsa Lines uses a standard 5x5 grid with variable paylines - from 25 to 200 in the base game and 500 with the scatter. The minimum coin size is 0.01 and the maximum is 3.00, while the minimum bet size per line is 0.25 and the maximum is 75.00. There are ten symbols, four of which are geometric shapes - a hexagon, a cube, a box triangle and a flat triangle - and the remaining six are the high playing cards. The wild is a six-pointed star and the scatter is a kind of Rubik’s cube. All wins pay from left to right.

Theme, graphics and soundtrack

There is no denying that Lotsa Lines has been carefully designed. It has a strangely retro-futurist look as if it were a 1980s vision of the 21st century. The neon bars look a bit like a stage set and the music is a relentlessly old-fashioned middle-of-the-road electro-pop approximation. The electrification graphics are quite striking and the colours are nice; however, the lack of any narrative, context or even a particularly inventive view of the future makes it all a little underwhelming and the name seems peculiarly inappropriate.

How to play Lotsa Lines

1. Select your bet value using the controls to the left-hand side of the screen. 
2. Press the spin button to start the reels spinning.
3. Press the stop button to stop the reels at any time during the spin.
4. Press the autoplay button to access the autoplay settings. This is where you can set various parameters to apply during autoplay.
5. In autoplay, you can set your preference for the number of automatic spins from 10 to 1,000 or infinity.
6. Still in autoplay, you can set a loss limit as a multiple of your bet from 10x to 100x or infinity; likewise, you can set a single win limit as a multiple of your bet from 10x to 100x or infinity.

Lotsa Lines bonus features

Wilds respin

If one or more wilds appear on three or more reels, the wild respin feature will be triggered. You will be given one wild respin, all the symbols that land will stay in place, and the wild symbols will spin over the top of them. The wild reels feature blank symbols and wilds only. The wild respin will be retriggered whenever one or more extra wild symbols land during a wild respin. Any extra symbols will be held for future wild respins.

Wild respins will continue until the point at which no further wilds land on a wild respin or until all the reel positions are occupied by wilds. Wins will be paid once at the end of the wild respin game. Wild respins will be played on the same lines and at the same bet values as the spin that triggered the feature. The wild respin feature can be triggered in the free games.

Free games

If you land three or more scatters on the reels, you will trigger the Lotsa Lines free game feature in which 12 free games will be awarded. While this feature is active, the number of paylines will increase from the base game maximum of 200 to a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 500. During the free games, it is possible to win wild respins. The bet value in the free game will be the same as the one being played in the game that triggered the feature.

The game seems a little undecided about what it is trying to be - is it a traditional fruit slot, which it seems to be, or is it a bold piece of futuristic design, which it doesn’t really pull off? There is nothing special going on here: even the Lotsa Lines free games feature is fairly routine. It is not a game that invites you to spend much time on it.
