Released in 2019, The Apes is one of the more recent games in KA Gaming's catalogue of over 200 video slots. This game has the classic 5 reel, 3 row layout and its paylines are fixed at 25. The Apes Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The Apes doesn't go overboard on features, and the same can be said for its graphics and sound. Tropical style music accompanies each spin of the reels, which are populated by cartoon style symbols, including three types of ape, bananas and a tree scatter. Vines coil around the wooden lower-tier symbols while the sunshine wild glows when it lands as part of a winning line. The artwork surrounding the reels is minimal, with nothing more than a few forest leaves against a blank, purple background. How to Play The Apes

1. Once the game loads, you'll be presented with a range of bets to choose from. Select how much you want to wager for the fixed 25 paylines. You can change your bet by selecting 'New Bet' under reels to bring up the bet selection window again.

2. The maximum bet selection is to the right of the spin button. Once you've confirmed your maximum bet, the button will also work as a spin button. Even if you select a lower bet subsequently, the max bet button will automatically spin the reels at the max bet amount, so be careful not to hit the wrong button if you're playing for real money.

3. For autospin, press and hold the spin button to select the number of autospins. You can select between 25 and an infinite number of automatic spins. There are no win or loss limit options available, so be ready to press the spin button again if you need to stop the autospin feature.

Our Verdict

The Apes is a solid, medium volatility game, with 25 paylines and a free spins bonus. While there's nothing specific that makes it stand out among other slots, it's by no means a bad game. The 32.28% hit ratekeeps your interest, and the 15 free spins on offer is more than some slots will give in their bonus features, despite there being no re-trigger. We managed to trigger the bonus game twice, and although we never saw the bonus multiplier feature in action, the wins were of a decent size.
