The company specialises in innovative 3D slot games, and Alpha and the Red Hood is a Gameplay Interactive demo slot that represents their output fairly well. Alpha and the Red Hood has a conventional 5-reel, 3-column grid and 30 fixed pay lines. The minimum bet level is 0.05 and the maximum is 8.00. Theme, graphics and soundtrack

This steampunk reimagining of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale looks very good. Although the original was pretty gruesome in its final stages, this version manages to deliver a few visceral surprises. The dreamy music is undercut very wittily by the sounds of mayhem coming from the reels. The forest setting is gently animated and the icons are inventively drawn, right down to Red Hood’s flapping cloak and the wolf’s nodding head. In the free spins round, the wolf takes centre stage, howling with menacing delight while the reels are full of snapping teeth and slavering jaws. A win is celebrated by the arrival of Red Hood, replacing the wolf with her gun raised in triumph. It's clever and fun.

How to play Alpha and the Red Hood

1. Adjust the bet using the arrow above Line Bet to call up the options and make your selection. You can also access the bet settings within the Auto Spin menu.
2. Select the Auto Spin menu to choose the number of auto spins from 10 to infinity. Here you can also set Auto Spin mode to end at a pre-set loss level as well as a single win limit and if your balance increases or decreases by a specified amount. You can also set auto spin to end if a bonus feature is won.
3. Press the Spin button to spin the reels with the current bet. You can also use the space bar to spin the reels.
4. Click on the ‘I’ symbol to call up the reference page, which describes the game's rules and components.
5. The Wild appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 and replaces all symbols, but wilds do not appear during free spins.
6. The Scatter appears on all reels. 3 or more scatter symbols landing will trigger 8 free spins.
7. During free spins, only the high-paying symbols and the scatter will appear. 3 or more scatters will trigger an additional 8 free spins. 
8. Scatter wins are multiplied by the total bet.
9. Wins pay left to right and right to left. Only the highest win is paid on each win line.

With a good RTP level and some generous payout options, there’s a lot to like here, even though the game play is a little limited. Top marks go to the look and sound of it, but even once that novelty wears off, it’s generally a rewarding game.
