Introduction

Triple Edge Studios are a company that Microgaming works with time and time again, and it’s not hard to see why; their games are well-made, fun-to-play and exciting - and they do a decent job in making captivating games. Assassin Moon is the latest example of a slot they’ve released, and while it is very similar to Pragmatic Play’s Wolf Gold, it does have a unique charm to it that makes it interesting… and, as many players think - worth playing!

Format and Betting Options

Assassin Moon is built around a 5-reel, 3-row format and there’s a total of 25 fixed paylines in play here. You can stake from as little as 0.10 credits - and as much as 20 per spin - so there’s stake options for players on all types of budgets here. It also offers a hit rate of 30.33% - which means that, on average, you can expect to see wins landing once in every three spins or so.

Assassin Moon

RTP and Volatility

RTP still weights in pretty well, coming in at a fixed 96.08%; fixed, means that it’s not offered at different RTP settings at different online casinos.

Payouts and Volatility

Given the nature of Assassin Moon (meaning, you can win up to 12,500X your stake on a single spin) it should come as no surprise to learn that the games’ pretty volatile. In fact, we’d go as far as saying it’s probably one of the most volatile releases we’ve seen so far from Triple Edge Studios.

Assassin Moon Bonus Features

One of the things we do give credit to Triple Edge Studios for is the abundance of bonuses and features they tend to build into most of their video slots. This is no different in Assassin Moon - and while it lacks anything overly groundbreaking, there are a few things to look out for.

Win Booster

While this isn’t a bonus or feature, as such, it’s an optional extra you can choose to toggle before spinning the reels during the base-game; when active, your stake increases by 2.5X. That’s a lot - even by games that use the same kind of mechanic’s standard! However, the benefit of playing with the “Win Booster” mechanic on sees a few changes.

Firstly, there are more of the Moon scatter symbols added to the reels, making it much easier to trigger the bonus round - and the RTP is also increased slightly, up to 96.33%. Due to the RTP increase, we’d recommend playing with the Win Booster on.

Free Spins

If you manage to land three of the Casino Chip scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4, then you’ll trigger the main free-spins bonus. You will then be awarded 10 free spins, and you’ll notice that the middle three reels then “sync” together, displaying just one giant symbol on each spin.

These jumbo blocks can reveal all the lower-paying symbols and higher-paying symbols, and the wild and Moon scatter can also land; it’s also possible to land a giant Casino Chip symbol, which re-triggers the bonus and awards a further 10 free-spins.

HyperHold Bonus

The HyperHold bonus in Assassin Moon is nothing we haven’t seen before - and it’s identical to the one found in Pragmatic Play’s Wolf Gold. On the reels, you’ll notice there are Moon scatter symbols in view - and these Moons all display cash values, or the name of one of the jackpots available to be won within the game. If you land six or more of these Moon scatter symbols on a single spin you’ll trigger the HyperHold feature - and this then locks those Moons in place.

You will then receive three re-spins, and any new Moons that land in place also lock in. When a new Moon lands, the counter resets back to three, and this continues for as long as new moons land in view. Once the screen is full of Moons - or when you fail to land any new Moons for three spins in a row - the cash totals of all the Moons are added up and added to your balance; it’s that simple!

Assassin Moon Review

If you’re a fan of the classic re-spin games - think along the lines of Relax Gaming’s Money Train 2, then Assassin Moon could be a slot you’ll take kindly to. The game is basic, sure, but the gameplay is smooth and the payouts are pretty generous, especially given the decent RTP of the slot; 96.02%.

Despite not having any actually progressive jackpots, there are four in-game jackpots to be found within Assassin Moon, and these are all triggered/activated through the re-spin feature. From our testing, it’s not quite as hard to trigger the re-spin feature in Assassin Moon as it is in other games with a similar mechanic (and believe us, there’s plenty of other games that utilise the same type of mechanic), but Triple Edge Studios have done a fairly decent job here and the maximum win of up to 12,500X your stake certainly makes for interesting gameplay.

Assassin Moon FAQs

What’s the RTP of Assassin Moon?

We often say that - on average - the industry-standard RTP for most video slots released today is 96%; that tends to be what we see, although due to new regulations brought in by the UK’s Gambling Commission, we’re now seeing some online casinos requesting lower RTP versions of slots to compensate. However, thankfully, Assassin Moon has an RTP of 96.08% - so it actually comes in at slightly above average.

How much can I win playing Assassin Moon?

Assassin Moon is one of the best Triple Edge Studios video slots in terms of maximum win-potential - and you’ll find yourself able to win a whopping 12,500X your stake while playing the slot! Of course, actually unlocking this tremendous win-potential is going to be pretty tough - but it’s still refreshing to see that it’s there, and we’re pleased to see Microgaming has started to work with studios that are capable of pushing out games with better maximum wins!

Who actually makes Assassin Moon?

While Assassin Moon is released under Microgaming’s Quickfire platform - and, often, with Microgaming’s branding - it’s actually produced by a game developer called Triple Edge Studios. They’re a small studio who work exclusively with Microgaming, and they develop games for the big-name software provider.

What bonuses and features will I find in Assassin Moon?

Assassin Moon has a few bonuses and features you can look forward to, and the first is the HyperHold bonus round. This is explained below, but is basically a locking re-spin feature. There’s also a free-spins bonus, which is triggered by landing three of the scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4.

How does the Re-Spin feature in Assassin Moon work?

In Assassin Moon, the main bonus round is called the HyperHold feature - and it works pretty much identically to all the other games we’ve seen utilizing a similar game mechanic. To trigger it you’ll need to land 6 or more of the Moon scatter symbols anywhere in view, and once it’s started these symbols will lock in place. Re-spins then continue for as long as new moons appear on the reels, and once you either fill the screen - or fail to land a new moon symbol for three consecutive spins - the feature will end and the cash totals will be added up from the moons currently appearing on screen.
