How to play

There are four base game symbols: the female explorer, golden piranhas, pyramids, and hieroglyphic dragons. There are also the playing cards 10, J, Q, K and A. The Book is both the scatter and the wild.

Our verdict

We don’t think the user interface is as ergonomic as it could be, given the lack of +/- to adjust the wager, and customisation is reduced with the basic autoplay functionality; however, the gameplay is still straightforward. The bet increments should appeal to a range of casual and higher roller players, with the ability to adjust the number of active paylines offering greater betting flexibility.

The auditory aspect adds little to the Aztec vibe and makes this feel more akin to a classic slot given the more mechanical sound-effects. The graphics and animations, while colourful, are rather dated for a 2015 offering; however, the 96 per cent RTP is decent and the medium volatility should result in some reasonable payouts at a somewhat consistent rate to make up for any loss in aesthetic value.
