Introduction

In this game, you have the option of watching a video that shows you how to play the game. The video is short, only 1:38, and opens with a kind of a zing sound before the main soundtrack starts. The soundtrack is what we think of as traditional Chinese music, in keeping with the theme of the game.

Like any good blockbuster, it starts with “Gods Odyssey” flashing across the screen, and then, ‘Embark on a journey to get the Treasure of Ancient Gods.’ Various other instructions appear on the screen before - spoiler alert - an explosion at the end.

Opening Gods Odyssey starts with the bang of a gong and curtains pulling back to show a river with a Chinese boat sailing along it. The boat is like a blue dragon with a blue roofed house, in which the reels are set, with red Chinese lanterns on the side of the house. All the while, the boat is making its way down the river.

The spin button is a large button with a blue dragon sitting inside it, towards the stern of the boat. The auto spin button is next to it, with an A in it. You can choose the number of spins. The plus and minus buttons allow you to increase or decrease the amount of your bet. Click on the symbol that looks like a candle, and it takes you to the different symbols and their values.

The symbols have a Chinese feel to them, and have an almost 3D quality to them. They are all coloured around the theme of the game: oranges, blues, greens and reds.

Guide to Playing Gods Odyssey

1.    You can choose between spin or auto spin.

2.    If you get more than one prize in one line, the highest value prize is what you will get.

3.    If you get simultaneous or overlapping winnings on different paylines, they will be added together. The game itself has a table of winning combinations.

4.    Wins pay from left to right.

5.    The Bonus Symbol only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4.

6.    The Wild Symbol substitutes for any symbol except the Bonus Symbol.

Our Verdict

We particularly liked the optional ‘how to play’ video, we thought it was a great way to learn how to play a new game. However, it was still no substitute for playing the game properly.

We liked the concept of reaching the Treasure of the Ancient Gods, even though we didn’t make it that far in the game - we made it to free spins but no further. We thought that this game was very pleasant and the chance of winning big made us want to carry on for longer. We thought it was an all-round, good fun game, and we enjoyed playing it. We didn’t get too many crashes, which was a bonus. All-in-all, we’d recommend Gods Odyssey, it’s worth playing it just for the chance of getting that treasure.
