The Way of the Samurai

Katana is named after the infamously sharp sword traditionally used by samurai, which is characterised by its slightly curved blade and two handed grip - and you’ll find a katana on a display stand as the game’s scatter symbol.

Across the five reels, three rows and 20 paylines, you’ll find a range of symbols connected to feudal Japan.

The low scoring symbols are the usual card values of 10, J, Q, K and A, rendered in a stylised Japanese script.

The high value symbols include scenes from a samurai battlefield, mountainside temples, and finally a traditional geisha and the shogun, or commander himself.

The shogun symbol acts as a wild symbol, and not only will landing five of them pay out a generous jackpot, it can also stand in for any of the other symbols in the game to build up winning combinations.

The only symbol it can’t substitute for is the katana bonus scatter symbol.

Katana also houses a gamble feature, giving you the chance to double your prize after any win. Simply click the ‘Gamble’ button, and you’ll be taken to a screen where you must predict the colour of a face down playing card. If you guess correctly, your prize will be doubled.

Shogun Bonus

The bonus feature in this game will be activated if you can land three, four or five of the katana scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. You’ll be awarded 10 free spins, with the added benefit of the shogun bonus in place during this feature.

You can also retrigger the free spins from within the bonus round - all you need to do is land three or more of the katana scatter symbols again, and another 10 free spins will be added to your tally.

The shogun bonus means that the shogun wild symbol can expand over all the positions on a reel. What’s more, it will only do this if a win is guaranteed for you, so no need to worry about wasted bonus features that don’t bring in any cash.
