Mistery Mining Demo Slot Review

Misery Mining from Nolimit City is everything you would expect from a game provider known for thinking outside the box. Following on from a collection of intriguing slot titles and innovative features, we have Misery Mining.

This is not your typical jolly mining game such as Diamond Mine Megaways, but instead, one that centres around a darker, gloomier setting. Free spins, big multipliers, and a symbol collection bonus game make up the main features of this underground slot.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

Any big fans of Nolimit City may quickly notice that the Misery Mining free play demo feels like a continuation of a recent Nolimit release in Fire in the Hole.

Misery Mining takes the underground gold-digging theme to a whole new level – a level much further down into the earth’s core. The visuals are what you would expect from somewhere far underground, so dark, rusty, and rocky all spring to mind. The lumbering soundtrack plays an excellent role in building the tension with explosions and crashes aplenty.

How to Win

Misery Mining starts off on a 3x3 slot grid but has the potential to grow to a 7x7 grid. What this means is that you begin with 27 ways to win, and this increases to 823,543 ways to win after the clever expanding reel capabilities. More on that special feature later, though.

The minimum and maximum betting limits in Misery Mining are £0.20 and £100 per spin.

Misery Mining Collapsing Mine

The collapsing mine feature plays a central role in the the Misery Mining slot demo. The opening 3x3 slot grid is increased by landing xBombs, expanding the grid by one reel or one row. Landing an xBomb symbol in the centre position expands the grid by one in all ways.

  • The collapsing mine is linked to the maximum 823,543 ways to win feature.
  • Cascading symbols are also in play through winning combinations, non-winning spins with exploding xBombs, and when neither of these happens but there are 1-2 scatters on the reels.

Misery Free Spins

The Misery free spins bonus game is triggered by landing three scatter symbols. The basic spins are played on the 3x3 grid, but 3x4 or 3x5 grids are available if you land additional super scatters. Next, there is a choice to be made between Mouse Mode and Rat Mode:

  1. Mouse Mode – 8, 10, or 12 scatters are available
  2. Rat Mode – 3 spins and resets to 3 when super scatters or standard scatters are triggered.

Symbol Enhancers

Multiple symbol enhancers are in play during the Misery Mining free spins bonus game. The setup includes locking the first and last reels as side collectors, with the bottom row locked and the top row holding the enhancer symbols.

You then have the scatter and super scatter symbols randomly moving around the main active area at the start of each free spin. If any of the enhancer symbols land directly above either the scatter or super scatters, the following can happen:

  • Bombs – drop anywhere across the grid to expand the active area.
  • Chest – all open side collection and scatter values are gathered within three reels and added to the total win.
  • Rat – appears and walks down either the first or last reel adding values to any unopened collector positions.
  • Bag – scatter and side collection values from corresponding rows are collected and added to the active scatter.
  • Dwarf – attaches to the lowest value scatter and collects all open side collection and reel area values within a three-reel area.
  • Coin Wagon – the coin wagon value is added to either the scatter or super scatters and locks its position on either reel one or seven.
  • Super Scatter – appears on the second or sixth enhancer reels and moves to a position within the active grid when triggered. It also adds two spins in Mouse Mode and resets the free spin counter to three in Rat mode.
  • Multiplier – the multiplier is increased on any active super scatter and multiplies any coin wagon value before it is added.
  • Extra note - if any of the side collector or bottom row collector positions are active, the value is added to the current total win.

xBomb Wild Multiplier

Similar to most wilds, the xBomb Wild multiplier substitutes for all other symbols apart from the scatters and super scatters. All exploding xBombs remove any adjacent symbols for more cascades, as well as increasing the total win multiplier by +1.

xBomb Mining

The last feature in the Misery Mining slot demo revolves around the xBomb symbols. If you don’t land any winning combinations or if there are no xBombs on the reels, and if there are fewer than three scatters, all scatters transform into xBombs that are non-wild. These then explode to create more collapsing symbols, expand the grid, and increase the win multiplier.

Misery Mining Slot -  Review Verdict

First of all, don’t let the Misery Mining title prevent any positive expectations of the gameplay from Nolimit City. Sure, the theme is dark and dingy, and nobody would call mining work enjoyable, but we are here for the entertainment and Misery Mining is surely set to become a smash hit.

Seriously. This game is action-packed with multi-dimensional gameplay that feels like you are never quite sure what to expect next. Will the grid increase? Will the collector symbols activate? Will the enhancer symbols give my winnings a big boost? It’s all happening with every spin!

Misery Mining? Hardly. It offers nonstop action from deep underground, and we love it. There are similarities to Fire in the Hole xBomb, but this title ramps up the action a few more notches, and you can play the demo right here at Slots Temple.
