Introduction
Pixel Reels takes us back to the days of 8 and 16-bit game consoles, with pixelated symbols bringing to mind the Space Invaders game of the late 1970s from Tomohiro Nishikado.
The game is played on 5x4 reel set which generates 30 fixed bet ways paying left to right. There is a wild symbol which expands to create winning lines when they are available. It substitutes for all symbols apart from the bonus symbol and only appears on the centre reels during free spins, which are triggered when a minimum of three bonus symbols appear on the centre reels. Players should note that free spins cannot be re-triggered.
If you enjoy a slot with free spins you will find many more here at Slots Temple.
The bonus symbol is the rocket which appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and shoots down 10 symbols in the column above.
There is a gamble feature which involves guessing the colour of a downward facing playing card. Players can risk their whole win or half, and there are ten opportunities to double up.
In the base and bonus games there are nine paying symbols, the top values being Diamond, Star, Watermelon, Plum and Cherries. The lower payers are the alien symbols coloured, in order of value, Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange.
The maximum win in Pixie Reels comes in at X2000 your stake.

Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack
There are retro games and Synot retro games. This simple slot has a charm not often found as designers seek to re-create the classic games of the last century. Here, we are back to the 8 to 16-bit consoles, with pixilated symbols and the player shooting down descending alien figures.
The screen depicts the symbols in what we would now call a pixilated-out format, but this just makes the game more realistic.
The soundtrack matches the images perfectly with electronic sounds accompanying the zapping of symbols in the bonus game.
If this retro theme appeals why not try the Pixel Samurai slot from Playtech available in demo mode here at Slots Temple.
Pixel Reels RTP and Variance
The RTP of Pixel Reels is 94.18% and we rate the game medium variance. Runs of wins can give the impression that this slot has a low volatility, but players will soon find that it is playing as a medium variance game. The wide bet range should be used to ease your way into the game.

Pixel Reels Review
We found Pixel Reels a really entertaining game, and especially appreciated the retro design with its echoes of the legendary Space Invaders video game. Players will enjoy the invasion feature when symbols are blasted from the sky with their values accumulating in line with the pay table.
The gamble feature is a great addition, and all in all the designer has packed as many features as they can into this game. We can recommend it to players of all levels, and especially fans of retro slots.
