Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

If you’re a fan of games like Bejeweled, you’ll be a fan of the graphics in this game, at least. Variously coloured sparkling gems act as the game’s icons, with each set within a gold casing, and they are also adorned with a four-leaf clover. For extra luck, we presume.

The background is a blurry, mystical forest, and this is where the Irish theme kicks in. You’ve got a green leprechaun’s hat, pots of coins, and you’ll notice that the font running across the top of the screen is typically Irish, reminiscent of such established Irish brands as, er, O’Neills?

As you might expect then, green and gold dominate the colour palette. Overall, it’s bright and colourful and perfectly appropriate for the theme.

The sound effects are somewhat misleading. As the first three reels settle, there’s not much going on, just a few clacks and clicks. Then as the next two settle, you get a sonic whoosh that might lead you to believe that you’re about to win something. You’re not—unless of course, you are. But it will do this every time, regardless. Similarly, if the game is idle for a minute you will hear a merry, ascending ringtone type sound that could also lead you to anticipate a win. Don’t. Better to think the worst and get a surprise, eh?

And despite saying yes to ‘Music’ on startup, this is as ‘Music’ as it gets. But in some ways this might be better than a mildly offensive stereotypical Irish jingle. So, choose your own sounds and it will be less confusing all round.

1. Use the blue i button in the top left corner of the screen to view the win amounts for each combination.

Our Verdict

Well, jewel themed slots are at least a departure from jewel themed Match 3 games, so that’s a good thing.

Unfortunately, there’s so little else going on in this game that you’ll probably pine for the relative excitement of the aforementioned games, even though they peaked in popularity about ten years ago. Here, you’re literally looking at basic slot gameplay, a Scatter, a Wild and the Extra Win feature. And why on earth would you choose not to select ‘Yes’ when asked if you want to double each win? It’s not so much a feature as a no-brainer and it won’t keep you busy.
