Theme, graphics & soundtrack

The background of this game is a group of tropical palm trees set against a very blue sky. It is only obvious that this is the sky and not the lagoon because there are some birds flying overhead. It is all a bit blurry but still attractive.

The reels are wooden and there is a bright blue and yellow parrot perching in each top corner. Most of the game's icons are items you might expect to find either in the lagoon or on a tropical island inhabited by natives, such as a pearl in a shell, survival devices, a tribal mask, and a native tribesman and tribeswoman.

You get a jaunty and somewhat appropriate tune on startup, then it all goes quiet. This has been noted with other games from this developer and is somewhat odd given that you are asked whether you want music on startup. The game’s sound effects are less easy to link to the island theme, with the electronic-era whooshes sounding distinctly unlike anything you would be able to hear on a remote island with no electricity.

How to play Sapphire Lagoon

Our verdict

As one of the many sea-life slots, this one is perfectly serviceable in terms of graphics and core gameplay.

As with other CT Gaming titles, there is a distinct lack of features. The only real feature is the free spins round, which involves more than the usual multiples needed to score a win, as these symbols are very prolific across the reels.

The navigation is also poor, as with this developer’s other titles. It feels very clunky, reacts slowly on a desktop, and isn’t very intuitive.

To enjoy this game, you will need to be very keen on this genre of slots or particularly excited by the thought of free spins. Otherwise, there isn’t going to be much to keep you interested beyond a few spins.
