Spinball RTP (payout) & volatility

This game boasts a high RTP of 96 per cent and low volatility. This means that wins are frequent; in fact, the wins are so frequent that there is rarely a round that doesn’t result in a win of some kind.

Spinball slot graphics & theme

The retro-inspired arcade game features a pinball board in the centre of the screen with a stunning galactic background. The game borrows much graphic inspiration from the futuristic-retro style, itself inspired by 70s futurism. The game is based on the arcade game of pinball, which is a 20th-century version of much older table games such as shuffleboard, billiards and bagatelle. These have all been around for centuries.

Coin-operated bagatelle games were invented in the 1930s in the US. The first was called baffle ball, which provided light entertainment during the time of the Great Depression. Flippers were added to the boards ten years later and a couple of decades on, electronic boards were added and units enjoyed more artwork themed on superheroes, TV shows and films. In the 60s and 70s, pinball machines were a mainstay of amusement arcades, pubs, youth clubs and social clubs. In the 80s, the advent of video games such as Pacman and Space Invaders spelled the end of the line for pinball; however, in recent years, the units have gained cult popularity. Today, the game is immortalised in this excellent online version.

How to play Spinball slots

First, make a wager per spin of between 1 and 100. To take your go, hit the spin button to the lower centre of the screen. This will release the ball in a way that is meant to replicate the original spring-loaded release on pinball units. The ball then racks up wins depending on which targets it hits as it travels and bounces around the board.

How to win at Spinball slot

The longer the ball remains in play, the more wins you are likely to hit. These wins are added up until the ball drops between the two flippers at the bottom. Your total win for the round is then totalled up and added to your balance. Depending on where the ball bounces, wins of between 0.1x and 0.3x are added up. Certain areas of the board also award between two and five free spins. The maximum win on a single spin is 1,400.

Spinball bonus features & free spins

One area in which this game is somewhat lacking is in the bonus feature department. All it really offers is the free spins feature, whereby up to five free spins are awarded should the ball make its way up the tunnel to the top-right of the board. The further up the tunnel the ball travels, the more spins will be awarded. The lowest number is two free spins, rising to three, four or five free spins should the ball make it that far. Spinball tips, tricks, cheats and strategy

Unlike real pinball, which arguably requires some degree of skill, this game is entirely random. This means you can’t cheat your way to a bigger and better win and there are no real ways to make sure you come out on top. What the game does offer, however, is a range of wagering options, from just one per spin up to 100. Choosing a lower amount will mean you can play for longer and will ultimately lose less money. Another low-risk strategy is to play in demo mode, which is a completely free mode of play that means you can play for as long as you wish without ever losing money.

Spinball review & rating

Despite not technically being a slot game, Spinball uses the same rhythm, RTP and wagering system as a slot game, which makes it easy to pick up. Players still make a wager on each go and are awarded free games. The ball is released to start each game and will bounce its way around the board, rebounding off the lower flippers to stay in play and hitting the various bumpers, tunnels and targets as it moves around. The various targets constitute wins, which are added together for each game - the longer the ball remains in play, the greater the win.

This game is ideal for those who love classic arcade pinball games and those who want something a little different from the traditional fruity slot games that have dominated this market for so long. Although slot bonuses and extra features are thin on the ground, the crisp graphics, sharp sounds and nostalgic feel of the game make it worth a go. The game is supported by all the main browsers - Chrome, Firefox and Safari - and can be played on a device of your choice. It can even be enjoyed for free here at Slots Temple. One of the multi-award-winning Tom Horn Gaming’s newest games, released in late 2019, it has gained speedy popularity amongst those looking for something a little different.
