Introduction

There are three reels that feature on a 3x3 matrix with 20 adjustable paylines. Your balance, credit and bet are displayed at the top, while the spin button is central on the right-hand side. To the top left is an options button where you will find the paytable, sound toggle and stake adjustment. 

There are four themed base game symbols: the party guy himself, a woman with a flower in her hair, flight tickets, and a starfish with a seashell. There are also the standard card symbols from ten through to ace. A blue cup is the bonus symbol and an arrow sign directing people to the spring break is the wild. This replaces all symbols bar the beach ball and blue cup and can appear on the second, third, fourth and fifth reels. It becomes sticky in the free spins feature.

Theme, graphics & soundtrack

The Party Guy is a holiday and party themed slot, with the fun and drinks-in-the-sun lifestyle taking centre stage. 

The background is a tropical paradise with the ocean, palm trees and soft sand. The party guy is to the left in his shades, shorts and colourful Hawaiian shirt. The reels take up the majority of the screen, so your focus is squarely on the game at play. 

The graphics are light cartoon gaming, reminding us a little of the Wii characters. It is intended to be casual and vibrant, and it succeeds at being eye-catching. It is a pretty basic game, with no animation to bring the game to life. There was no ongoing soundtrack either, just the odd mechanical sound effect when spinning the reels. This lack of music reduces the atmospheric value somewhat. 

The Party Guy RTP and variance

Unfortunately, neither the RTP nor the variance is known for this slot. From our own gameplay, we would anticipate medium to high variance. 

How to play The Party Guy 

1. To change your stake, click the three lines to the top left and then ‘change bet’.
2. Choose your coin denomination from 0.02 to 1.00.
3. Select the bet per line between 1 and 5.
4. Choose the paylines in play from 1 to 20.
5. Click the back arrow to return to the game.
6. Hit spin and remember to play responsibly.

Bet sizes & paytable wins

Drinking bonus round

Three blue cup bonus symbols anywhere on reels one, two and three will award the drinking bonus. You will be asked to guess a coin flip - guess correctly and your opponent will drink, guess incorrectly and you will drink. Correct guesses increase the win significantly. The first person to finish all three liquid refreshments ends the round. 

Free spins

Three scatters anywhere on the third, fourth and fifth reels will trigger eight free spins. More can be retriggered during the feature. The wild will be sticky, remaining on the reels for the duration of the feature. 

Double up mini-game

The Party Guy review: our verdict

This is a bright and colourfully designed game that keeps things simple, including where the animations and sound are concerned; however, it felt a bit clunky, with the game and even the payable being slow to load, and it wasn’t always easy to drag the scroll through the stake options on a laptop. 

We like the boost to winning potential in the free spins round by way of the retriggers and the wild being sticky. The risk game has technically unlimited potential and could see a real spike in your payout. This ups the ante for the players who want more tension in their gameplay. The drinking bonus is a novel addition that is in keeping with the theme.
