Introduction

Ultra Joker is a retro game from Stakelogic that has been developed in collaboration with Hurricane Games using the Greenlogic program. Despite the name, it is nothing to do with the Batman villain or the recent controversial movie; instead, this Joker is strictly the traditional cap-and-bells variety. This decision is perfectly in keeping with the determinedly retro design of all the game elements.

As part of its strict adherence to the conventional fruit machine format, Ultra Joker has justthree reels and five paylines. The paytable has nine symbols including the Joker himself and the traditional symbols you would expect, such as lucky sevens, plums, oranges and cherries.

How to play Ultra Joker

Ultra Joker bonus features

Wild

The Ultra Joker is the wild symbol and can appear in any position across the reels. It substitutes for all symbols to complete winning combinations. A win that involves a wild will apply the Ultra Joker multiplier.

Joker multiplier

The Ultra Joker multiplier starts at 1x. For each losing spin, the multiplier increased by 1x. Any win with the wild joker symbol applies the multiplier and resets to 1x.

Win repeater

A full window of matching symbols, including joker wins, unlocks the win repeater bonus. A wheel appears on the screen offering the chance of a win repeat. The wheel default is 50/50, so can result in double or quits. The player has the option to change these odds using the + and - buttons below the wheel.

The wheel comprises eight segments labelled either collect or win. Collect will award the payout for the full window of symbols:

Ultra Joker review: our verdict

While visually very simple, this game has some nice features, such as the wild, multipliers, win repeat and gamble. Retro slots are becoming increasingly popular because they offer an alternative to flamboyant themes and extravagant graphics and animation. Sometimes simplicity is all you want, and Stakelogic has delivered it here in an attractive and unostentatious package that delivers just what it promises.
