American Poker II Overview
Whenever film or TV characters play cards, they choose poker. It may be the most iconic of the card games, its terminology familiar even to those who have never played. Its origins are uncertain, but it became popular in the 1800s on the riverboat casinos of the American South. Today there are countless versions. Previous Greentube casino games included the first American Poker, and now there’s a sequel with similar mechanics.
Traditionally, poker is about comparing your hand to other players to see who has the best. This is American Poker, which explains the decorative Stars and Stripes, but it’s also a single-player version. Your payouts depend on the cards that appear in your hand, with potential rewards shown on the paytable. There’s also a mini-bonus feature.
How to Play American Poker II
American Poker II is still about knowing when to hold, fold, or draw—but with mechanics tailored for one player and the additional mini-bonus element.
Preparation
Before you start, click the Rules button to read how the game works. Set a budget and limits so you know how much you can afford to wager and lose. Keep these in mind during play.
Make a Bet
Use the plus and minus symbols to adjust your wager, with a minimum bet of 2.00. The paytable updates automatically based on the new wager. Higher bets increase both risk and potential reward.
Other Settings
Sound and fullscreen options are found in the top corner. These settings can be adjusted at any time.
Draw
Click Draw to receive five face-up cards. If you win, you may collect your payout, restart, or hold specific cards and exchange the rest for a second draw. The bet remains the same for both draws.
Winning
Winning requires forming specific poker hands such as:
- Two pair – two different pairs.
- Three of a kind – three cards of the same rank.
- Straight – five consecutive cards of different suits.
- Flush – five cards of the same suit.
- Full house – three of a kind + one pair.
- Four of a kind – four cards of the same rank.
- Straight flush – a straight of the same suit.
- Royal flush – straight flush ending in an Ace.
- Five of a kind – four cards + a joker acting as a wild.
Gamble
After a win, the Gamble feature becomes available. Guess if the face-down card is red or black: a correct guess doubles your win; a wrong guess loses it. This feature is optional.
Mini-Bonus
A mini-bonus pot increases whenever you hit Jacks or Better on a losing round. It pays out on the second draw and can trigger after 17–22 hits or directly after the 20th. Value depends on your base bet.
Review
After each round, reassess your budget, time spent playing, and control. Use timeout or self-exclusion tools if needed.

Betting Options
Base Game
There is one base bet of at least 2.00, covering both possible draws. This stake also contributes to the mini-bonus pot.
Gamble Feature
The gamble option uses your win as the stake in a double-or-nothing scenario. You may gamble repeatedly, but the maximum payout still relates to your original wager.
Payouts
- Mini-bonus (Jacks or Better): 4x your stake
- Two pair: 3x your stake
- Three of a kind: 5x your stake
- Straight: 7x your stake
- Flush: 9x your stake
- Full house: 12x your stake
- Four of a kind: 40x your stake
- Straight flush: 80x your stake
- Royal flush: 300x your stake
- Five of a kind: 600x your stake
Optimal Strategy
As in most video poker games, strategy matters. Though you can’t influence which cards are dealt, your decisions on whether to draw or hold impact long-term outcomes.
If your first hand is already winning, holding it for the second draw is low risk. If you're close to a winning hand, drawing might be worthwhile. If the hand is weak, it may be better to fold and start fresh.
General best practices:
- Budget sensibly and set limits.
- Never chase losses.
- Know when to stop.
- Use responsible gaming tools when necessary.
Game Controls
- Top-of-screen buttons allow sound muting and fullscreen mode.
- Your balance and current bet appear at the bottom, with + and – stake controls (minimum 2.00).
- The Rules button provides game guidance; the paytable is always visible.
- Click Draw to reveal your first cards.
- Cards marked “Hold” will stay in the second draw unless deselected.
- After the first draw, choose Hold none to collect or Exchange to redraw.
- After winning, the gamble panel appears with red/black options.
Design and Graphics
American Poker II uses a blue background with patriotic red, white, and blue accents. The paytable uses yellow text, except for the top Five of a Kind payout, highlighted in red. During Gamble, the table shifts to show the face-down card.
The graphics are functional rather than modern. Cards are simple, even crude, especially the face cards. Controls are basic but clear, emphasising usability over style.

FAQs
How do you win at American Poker II?
You win if your hand contains one of the paying combination of cards, which as in other forms of poker range from two pair to five of a kind. You may win on your first draw, or you may choose to hold some cards and deal again to try and replace the others with better options.
Does American Poker II have any bonus features?
It has a mini-bonus, operating on the principle of jacks or better. This means that every time you find jacks or better, money goes into the mini-bonus prize pot. Its value is still based on your original bet. Once you’ve hit 16 jacks or better, it’s possible for the mini-bonus to be randomly awarded.
What’s the gamble feature in American Poker II?
Another extra feature in American Poker II is the gamble feature. This appears after a winning hand, but you don’t have to engage. You could just collect your winnings. If you’re willing to take this double-or-nothing risk, you wager your original winnings on the turn of the card. It all comes down to whether it’s red or black.
What is the top prize available in American Poker II?
Top wins in American Poker II depend on your bet, but the maximum available is x1250. This is for five of a kind, meaning you find four cards of the same rank, such as four sixes, all in the same hand, whilst the fifth card is a wildcard, represented by the joker.
