Get ready to shrink down to size and live out a day in a bug's life! Bichos is a 2D humorous slot game with goofy graphics and tonnes of interesting characters. You’ll make some new friends, including the highly prosperous Mr Frog, who presumably is only hanging out with the bugs because he’s hungry. Spiders, flies, mosquitoes, ants, butterflies and beetles make up the reel symbols, and they’re all amusing little characters that are sure to put a smile on your face.

Bichos Animations & Audio

The animation in this game is a little unusual. The reels spin quickly with a standard animation and the reel symbols move, but the symbols appear to move at random times instead of when they appear in winning combinations. You could get a winning combination and nothing will happen, whilst other times the characters on the symbols spring to life and do funny little things. It’s a shame because these little animations really bring charisma to the game but are severely under-utilised.

How to Play Bichos

Start by selecting your betting amount and the total number of lines you wish to play across. You can do this using the labelled buttons on the bottom left of the control dashboard. Your total amount per spin will be updated and displayed in the information box in the centre of the dash. You can set your wager from anywhere between 0.25 and 125.00. Once you’re happy with the amount, click the button in the bottom right corner of the screen next to the little frog character. The reels will spin, and if you hit a winning combination on an active payline, the game will notify you with on-screen animations. Winning combinations are scored from left to right and come when you match three or more of any one kind of symbol. The Wild symbol is the fat frog with his swimming gear on, and it can substitute all other symbols except the Scatter, which is shown as a frog character sailing on a raft.

Bichos Bonus Feature & Free Spins

There aren’t a lot of bonus features in this game, which is probably its biggest pitfall. There are Scatter icons, and they can reward you with different multiplier prizes depending on how many times they show up on the screen. You can check the in-game paytable to look at the full list of symbol mutlipliers. However, the Scatter symbol doesn’t grant any free spins. In fact, there is no free spin round at all! There is a gamble mini game that you can activate after every win you hit wherein you must guess the card colour in a risky game of double or nothing; but it’s not very entertaining.

RTP & Volatility of Bichos

The RTP of this game sits solidly at the industry average of 96%, which is fair and quite good because R Franco slots can often have a lower RTP that can be detrimental to the overall enjoyability of the game. The volatility is at a nice medium level, which means that although you may have to incur some boring dry spells between your winning hits, you also have the possibility of scoring multiple consecutive wins if you’re really lucky. Both of these ratings are pretty fair and work well in the game mechanics.

Our Verdict of Bichos

If you’re entomophobic, steer clear of this game because it will have you bugged out in no time! Bichos is a nicely designed game with wacky, lively characters and a fair RTP rate. But other than that, there’s not much more to love. The medium volatility certainly shows more in this game as there are so few added bonuses and players just spin, wish, rinse and repeat. Even retro-themed games based on old classics tend to have more extras than this game, which has a pretty exterior but is nothing but bare bones underneath. With literally millions of slot games available, developers are challenged to create games that have the full package plus a "wow factor" that really compels people to want to keep exploring the world. Although every title from R Franco games ticks one or more of these boxes, they have yet to present us with something that has it all.
