First Person Top Card Overview
Evolution Gaming released the original Football Studio in 2016 as a card game to be played with a live dealer. In recent years, Evolution has also made alternative first-person versions of many of its live table games. These don’t require dealers or other players, and the results are generally decided by a random number generator (RNG). And so we come to the 2020 launch of First Person Top Card, inspired by the original Football Studio but with added first-person mechanics. Yes, the background is more like a TV studio for pundits than a casino.
Like Football Studio, First Person Top Card takes place on a table that looks like a football pitch with home and away ends, though it’s grey rather than covered in grass. You can see the trophy and live scores like you’re watching a real match. You draw cards from a regular deck, with aces, kings and the like, but they’re placed in the home or away areas. You’re betting on which side will win, or if there’ll be a draw. Like Evolution’s other first-person games, pressing the “GO LIVE” button immediately transports you to the live dealer’s table.
How to Play First Person Top Card
Bets Are Placed
You have three options when you decide to make your bet. Either you bet on the home side winning, you bet on the away team, or you take a bigger risk and wager on a draw. You’ll see poker chips representing different values on the bottom of the screen and can click to place them on the home, away or draw areas of the table.
Cards Are Drawn
Next to the poker chips is the larger button that says: “DEAL”. It’s entirely up to you when you press it and start the game. When you do, two cards will be drawn from the shoe, which contains eight decks of cards. The first card is placed on the home side, the second on the away side.
How to Win
The side with the highest-value card wins. Aces are low, with a king being the highest possible result. If both sides reveal a card of the same value, it’s a draw. If you bet on the winning side, you win; if not, you lose.
GO LIVE?
The GO LIVE button lets you move from first-person gameplay to the live dealer’s table anytime. There are no restrictions on when you can press it.
Special Features
This is a very simple game without bonus rounds, multipliers or jackpots. The standout feature is the GO LIVE button, which instantly transports you from RNG gameplay to a live dealer table. There may be Evolution Gaming slots to play elsewhere, but this developer is best known for its live casino offering.
Betting Options
Betting options remain straightforward. You can choose between Home, Away, or Draw. After results and payouts, you can place the same or different bet, or leave the game if you’ve reached your limits.
Payouts
There are three possible payouts:
Home: 1:1
Away: 1:1
Draw: 11:1
Home and away have a house edge of around 3%, while draw has a house edge of around 32%.
Optimal Strategy
Simple games bring simple strategies. With an RNG, there’s no way to influence the cards. Home and away results are more likely than draws, even though draws pay more.
Set a budget with loss and single win limits. Responsible gameplay is essential. Timeout and self-exclusion tools are available if needed. This applies whether you’re playing First Person Top Card or Immersive Roulette.

FAQs
How does First Person Top Card work?
It’s a football-inspired card game. You’re in a TV show, monitoring the live scores as you play, but the table has the same markings as a football pitch. Cards will be laid on the home and away sides after you bet on the outcome of this particular match. With no bonus features, it’s always about that home or away question.
What are the possible outcomes in First Person Top Card?
The side with the highest-value card wins the match. If you bet on the side with the highest-value card, you win too. If you bet on home but the away side is victorious, you lose. There is a third possible outcome, other than a home win or away win, and that’s a draw, where both sides score the same.
What is the top payout available in First Person Top Card?
Draws pay more than wins for either side because their probability is much lower. The house edge of 3% increases to as much as 32%. This means that whilst there’s a 1:1 payout for a home or away victory, if you take the bigger risk of betting on a draw and are successful, the payout is 11:1.
How does First Person Top Card’s “GO LIVE” feature work?
Like in other First Person games from Evolution, it’s as simple as pressing a button. Hit “GO LIVE” and you’ll leave the first-person game, where it’s just you and the random number generator, and you’ll be transported through a portal to a table with a live dealer to guide you. You can do this at any time.
