Introduction

Ainsworth Game Technology was founded in 1995 and in the early days they manufactured slot machines but now Ainsworth free play slots are widely available at online casinos. Golden Yang has a 5-reel, 3-column grid with 100 fixed pay lines but the option to play with only 50. The minimum bet size is 0.50 and the maximum is 40. Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

While the illustrations and the animations, particularly the dragon’s head substitute, are very impressive the look of the game is rather spoiled by the huge multi-coloured lists of numbers that tend to make it look a bit like a car showroom. The sound effects and soundtrack are very minimal so it doesn’t really deliver a great visual or audio experience.

How to Play Golden Yang

Before you start the game, take a moment to familiarise yourself with the game set-up, controls and functions with our simple guide:

1. You can switch between 100 and 50 lines using the arrows to the top left of the control panel.
2. Adjust the bet using the arrows to the top right of the control panel. Click Max Bet to select the maximum bet. The total bet is the bet multiplied by the number of lines.
3. As you adjust the lines and bet level you will see the lists of bonus payouts change accordingly.
4. Click on the auto play button (fast forward symbol) to enter the Auto-play menu. This allows you a choice of automatic spins from 5 to 25. The number of spins remaining is displayed on the autoplay stop button. Pressing the button again will exit auto play.
5. The balance meter at the bottom left of the panel displays your current balance which is constantly updated. Your winnings are shown to the right of the balance.
6. Click the spin button or press the space bar to start playing using the current total bet value. You can stop the reels by pressing the spin button again.
7. The substitute symbol will substitute for all symbols except scatters. It appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
8. All four scatters appear during paid games and the free games feature only.
9. There are two lantern scatters which appear during the Money Up Feature only.
10. All wins count from the leftmost reel, paying left to right on adjacent reels, except scatters, ladder prizes and bonuses. Only the highest award is paid in each scatter combination. Only the highest win is paid on each line except scatters, ladder prizes and bonuses. All wins are added.

Golden Yang Bonus Features

Free Games Feature

If 3 or more YinYang scatters land the free games feature is activated with 8 free spins. During free games when the substitute appears all symbols on that reel will be transformed into a substitute. In each free game the numbers of the four highest paying symbols will be increased at random. Any 3 or more YinYang scatters award 3 extra free games. Bets and lines are the same as in the triggering game.

Money up Feature

Six or more of the multiplier scatters trigger this feature with 3 free games. The initial ladder prizes above each reel are multiplied by the total bet and then multiplied by the sum of the multipliers form the corresponding reel. If one or more lanterns appear an extra free game is awarded. Depending on the number of blue lanterns the current prize will progress to the next level, A yellow lantern awards one or more bonus prizes. When no more free spins remain the current highlighted ladder prizes are awarded.

Golden Yang Review: Our Verdict

Despite the disappointing graphics this is a game worth spending some time with. There’s quite a lot packed into what appears to be a straightforward game. The 2 paytables is an interesting element and the Money Up Feature is an imaginative combination of free spins and extra prizes. Pretty good.
