Theme, Graphics & Design

I, Zombie tows the perfect line between true gothic and cartoonish, slightly pantomime horror. The background is brilliantly creepy, showing a dilapidated old village. Bats flutter through the air, thick mist envelopes the buildings and there are even signs (presumably from monster hunters!) nailed to doorways.

The setting is plucked straight out of a classic zombie film and it’s made all the better by the deep purple, dusky colour scheme. Ghastly sound effects play sporadically as the reels spin, and the music is spot on too. It’s menacing and brooding, but there is, again, just a hint of the comic thrown in as well to ensure that things don’t get too heavy.

Symbols are exactly as you might expect. The green zombie (complete with rotting flesh and a suitably deranged expression) is a standout, along with the wild. Whenever the purple zombie lands, she climbs out of her tile to fill other positions. It’s a funny moment and one that’s perfectly indicative of I, Zombie’s tongue-in-cheek approach to horror.

I, Zombie RTP and Variance

I, Zombie is considered a medium-high volatility slot, but its RTP is less clear. Realtime Gaming hadn’t made that information available in time for us to include it in our review, but players will be pleased with the top win. It stands at x50,000—one of the best totals around. As attractive as that is, you’ll need a lot of luck to get close to it!
