Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

It’s not exactly the Little Mermaid, but Platipus have created a pretty if somewhat dull design for this undersea slot. The problem isn’t the sea life itself, as those characters are charmingly drawn, but the rudimentary background.

There’s a wash of purple behind the reels and blue across the background with the suggestion of seaweed and schools of fish, but compared to games like Atlantis Megaways or Gold Mermaid, Platypus really aren’t trying too hard.

The game symbols are creatively done, however, with puffer fish and seahorses, clownfish and turtles. The 10-A royals have an effect that’s supposed to look sun dappled but instead looks like giraffe skin, which is visually confusing. The Dolphin wild and Pear scatter are well depicted and easy to spot.

The soundtrack is really nice, however, with a chilled electronic vibe and the splashing of waves. There’s a shimmering sound as you spin which makes you expect more from this slot than the design delivers.
