Octopus Treasure is a video slot by Play’n Go that offers a top prize of 5,000x your stake on every spin. It’s set underwater and the game's bonuses and features include Wild Coins, Gold Piles, Treasure Crabs and Wild Reels. The main bonus round is the Treasure spins feature. Octopus Treasure comes with an RTP of 96.25%.

Introduction

In the past, Play’n Go used to release quite a few underwater-themed slots, and, in the past, we’ve seen Sea Hunter and Eye of the Kraken - two games which both proved relatively successful. Now, the game developer are back with another sea-inspired slot and it’s called Octopus Treasure.

Octopus Treasure is a video slot that, like most of the software provider’s games, features impeccable-looking graphics and stunning audio and visual animations. You’ll find yourself able to play the game from as little as .20 coins per spin and as much as 100 coins - although the exact bet options available to you do vary, depending on the casino you’re playing at.

The game is built around a 5-reel, 3-row format and there’s 20 paylines in play. Again, depending on the casino you may be able to customise the number of paylines in play, but generally speaking we’d advise you to play the full 20 lines to ensure the volatility doesn’t go too high.

The game has an RTP of 96.25%, although as we’re come to know from Play ‘n Go, they do allow operators to customise the RTP settings, so you should always try to make sure you’re playing at a casino that offers the highest RTP version possible.

Octopus Treasure’s Symbols And Payouts

As we see with most of Play’n Go’s slots, Octopus Treasure comes with eight different (main) paying symbols, and these can be divided up into two main groups; the lower-paying symbols and the higher-paying symbols. The lower-paying symbols are all playing card suits - so expect to see the regular spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. Unfortunately, these symbols don’t pay much (like you may expect), so even matching a 5-of-a-kind combo of them isn’t going to produce any groundbreaking payouts.

When it comes to the higher-paying symbols you’ll find a number on offer, and these include Pots, Coins, a Jug and a Crown. Again, - rather surprisingly - the payouts for these higher-paying symbols are relatively poor, with the best premium symbol awarding a payout worth just 2.5X your stake.

However, there is also one additional paying symbol - and that’s the wild symbol. The wild substitutes for all other symbols in the game - bar - the scatters - and if you manage to make a 5-of-a-kind combo of the wild symbol, you’ll be awarded 5X your stake. It’s far from groundbreaking, and it means that you won’t have much to look forward to in the way of win-potential during the base-game.

Octopus Treasure Bonus Features

We’ve seen a number of game developer incorporate collection features into their games and on the ocean floor in Octopus Treasure you’ll find a variety of treasure chests. The main bonus round involves collecting various keys, and these keys are then used to unlock chests - which play a role in all aspects of the game.

Below, we’re going to be taking a look at the different bonuses and features you’ll find inside this new hit from Play’n Go.

Reel Modifiers

On any spin (during the base-game) you may see a key symbol appear on the top of the third reel. When this key appears, you’ll see an animation of the Octopus reaching around from behind the reels before grabbing hold of the key. He will then open one of four chests that appear on your screen and you’ll then be awarded one of four reel modifiers. These are detailed below:

  • Wild Coins: You'll see a bunch of coins appear at the bottom of the screen. You are then tasked with picking three of these coins. Each coin then reveals a symbol, and any instances of this specific symbol on the reels is turned into a wild.
  • Gold Pile: The Octopus once again makes an appearance, this time upgrading a number of random symbols to help you form more wins.
  • Treasure Grab: Certain symbols on the reels are eaten by the Octopus who then spits out a cash value for each symbol he consumes.
  • Wild Reels: You’re tasked with choosing from a pot - this turns anywhere from one to all five reels wild.

There’s also another wild modifier; after a win, there’s a chance the random multiplier feature will trigger, and this multiplies your win by up to 10X!

Key Respins

If you manage to land three of the Pearl scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 you’ll trigger the Key Respins feature. During this bonus, only the key symbols appear on the reels. While these don’t pay a cash amount, they are collected - and tallied up at the end. The more keys you collect the more Treasure Spins you’re awarded, from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 10. During the Treasure Spins, one of the four reel modifier features mentioned earlier is active on every spin; plus, if you manage to land any of the key symbols you’ll be awarded one additional Treasure Spin.

Our Verdict Of Octopus Treasure

Unfortunately, Play’n Go seems to have missed the boat a little with Octopus Treasure. While the graphics and animations certainly can’t be faulted, it does feel like the same regurgitated 5-reel, 3-row slot we’ve seen virtually all developers produce over the years and aside from a few semi-quirky mini features (the reel modifiers) we can’t help but feel as though the game developer could have done a bit more here.

It’s also not entirely clear how the 5,000X maximum win can be reached; we can only assume that, as the number of Treasure Spins you can win is unlimited, you simply need to go on an extremely lucky streak and hit a huge plethora of wins; once you reach the 5,000X stake mark the game will immediately stop and the bonus round will end.

Octopus Treasure Slot FAQs

What is the RTP of Octopus Treasure?

The RTP of Octopus Treasure is shipped initially from Play’n Go at 96.25%. However, as is the case with virtually all the software provider’s slots, online casinos do have the ability to request lower RTP settings as we mentioned earlier. Because of this, you should always check to ensure you’re playing at an online casino where they are indeed running the maximum RTP version of the slot.

How much can I win on each spin?

Again, as is commonplace with virtually all Play’n Go slots, Octopus Treasure carries a maximum win cap of 5,000X your total stake. In order to achieve this you’ll need to win quite a few of the Treasure Spins!

Who made Octopus Treasure?

The slot is developed by a well-known game developer called Play’n Go. They’re behind some of the most successful slots in history, including Reactoonz, Book of Dead and Viking Runecraft.

Is there a free spins bonus in Octopus Treasure slots?

There is no free spins bonus in Octopus Treasure slots from Play'n GO.
